I could use some help here. I'm in the middle of cleaning the throttle body & maf sensor. I've got this hose sticking up, don't see where it's supposed to go.

If you don't remember detaching the hose from the back of the airbox, you should probably check if the nipple is still intact...

Be careful, that nipple is very easy to break off, I pull off the other end of the hose and leave the hose on the airbox when I remove it.

When I did my last oil change in August, I took that piece off and sorta half assed cleaned the throttle body by just spraying it. So, that hose has probably been off since August. This time I took the throttle body completely off and thoroughly cleaned it. I also cleaned the maf sensor, it was pretty clean already.

Gotta say, this forum is the best tool I have for the taco. Again thanks for the really fast reply.

Interesting. You didn't get a CEL with codes for running rich?

No cel, or stored codes. Heck, maybe it’s been off from the day I bought it a couple years ago. I’ve always gotten about 12mpg, sometimes 11, rarely 13. Well it’s on now, I’ll see if it changes fuel consumption.

I did notice a new issue, rodent paw prints on the intake runners. I don’t know, maybe moth balls to repel they’re urge to crawl around in there? I’ve seen some of the horrors posted here. If you look closely at the one closest to the fire wall, you can see it.

Sometimes, coyote urine (from an outdoors shop) will help. I say "sometimes" because it seems that they all get used to it and come back. Mothballs work for a shorter period of time. Sonic repellers, foo-foo organics don't work at all. Four legged deterrents (dogs or cats) are best.

If you're parking it for extended period of time, try to park as far away as possible from fields and such.

I thought about coyote urine. In the last couple years, they’ve moved into my area. The 30 or so cats that hung out by the grocery store all disappeared, and some of the neighbors pets too. I have a chihuahua I don’t want disappeared. I’m not sure if coyote urine will attract coyotes.

Then I'd use poison. I use stuff called one bite. They are pellets that come in little packets, you don't even open them, the rodents chew them open, then eat. They also come in sticks. Needless to say, I would be very careful using it so that some odd pellets or crumbs from the sticks don't fall to the ground for your chihuahua to gobble.

The pellets you used to be able to get in boxes of 10. I'm not sure if it's only in Oregon (but you do live in CA) but now I have to buy them in buckets of 50. Something to do "farm" use or some other foolish regulation. The sticks, I believe, you can still get in small amounts/packages. I could send you a couple of packets.

And, keep your doggie from eating any sickly mice it my catch.

I know some of us like to hear the follow up. My first fuel fill up after oil change, cleaning maf & throttle body, attaching or reattaching the vacuum hose to the air filter box. I calculated 11.7mpg. I did disconnect the battery to put on the felt acid prevention things. Maybe the ecm having to do the relearn thing has something to do with it being so low. Probably mainly has to do with my lead foot.
