    Hey all,

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've scoured the forums, google and YouTube in hopes of finding the answer but I just can't figure it out.

I recently picked up a used cap for my bed, the previous owner had wired the third brake light and dome light with a 4-pin connector which he severed to a 3-pin. Both negatives are wired to the ground in the connector, the third brake light to the yellow wire, and the dome light to the brown wire, the green wire is non-existent. (example of the connector: https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/...or-4-flat-trailer-end-24-in-0408293p.html#srp )

For the last hour I've been trouble shooting without luck but I'm trying to connect the third brake light and dome light into the tail light assembly; I don't want a hot wire for the dome.

So far I have the ground done, I *believe* I have the positive wire from the third brake light connected (spliced to the blue wire in the tail light - it works when I pump the brakes), but I don't know which wire to us use to get the dome light working when the vehicle runs.

    Any help is appreciated!

The connector you are using has Left turn & Stop, Right Turn & Stop, Parking and ground. Since you don't want the dome HOT, and the connector your using does NOT have a hot circuit, you are left with the parking circuit. This circuit needs to be selected at the steering light stalk if you want the dome to work.

P.S. The Brake lamp on the cap will flash when turn is selected...
