I recently purchased the new VF by oVtune and the Tacoma tune pack. I have only installed the VF tune software. Do I need to plug in and get my ecu ID before I can do anything or get my tune pack.

Basically yes. Follow the instructions on the vftuner website. Once you have your ECU ID, I would recommend making sure it is up to date with the most recent TSBs. Then email your ECU ID to ovtune with your order# and they'll send you the tune pack for your ECU.

Thanks guys. I can do just about anything with my truck but. Ever tuned before. So I basically just plug in the flash, power on the truck and get the ecu id. I read I can use some stock tunes until I get a tune pack. Is this correct?

Follow the instructions for how to plug in and get your ecu. Stock tunes are just that - stock. Aka what is already on your truck, but you can edit them in vftuner if you want.

The instructions are pretty short and vague. So once I credit my vehicle and get my ecu I’d I just send the info to them and wait for the tune pack?
