I tucked mine up under the dash with some stickum tape and zip ties.

Well, above the kick panel and behind the dash.

There was a vertical piece on a metal bracket near the steering column. Pointed the controller port forward, the harness port reward and double sided taped the box there. Everything tucked up under the plastic wonderfully.

I’ve got a one way trailer to pull to Texas. Needed to get done.

So I just finished this install and thought that everything went well, but mine won’t start blinking the blue/green sequence indicating it’s auto-calibrating. Anyone else run in to this?

It is also not indicating any of the trouble codes. All it does is 1 quick blue flash when I hit the brakes and if I press the button it glows blue and the trucks brake lights come on.

Thought I’d ask here since it’s late on Friday and a holiday weekend and I likely won’t get a hold of them till Tuesday.

Do you have a trailer connected? Per the manual: "If no trailer is connected, Active Calibration will occur as normal without any indication from the LED."

Glowing blue and activating the trucks brake lights when pressed is normal.

I discovered an easy way to test without having a trailer connected. Get up to speed, set cruise control, push the button. As this triggers the brake, it should disengage the cruise control.

I’ll fully test this on Monday or Tuesday with my buddy’s trailer and hauling the 2010 Tacoma he bought from me.

That's interesting. Technically it only triggers the trailer brake, but perhaps Toyota's logic extends to any brake in the combined vehicle.

Updating older thread but the harness is available. Not sure how new it is. Just ordered one the other day. Should be here in a day or two.

The RedARc does have a custom harness. No need to mod a tekonsha one anymore. Part number should be TPH-015
The short fat button is part number tpsi-002

I installed the less expensive Tow pro Liberty that only works on up to 2 axles and is mostly for highway towing last summer in my 2020.
The pics are the items that I got ordered direct from RedARc and the final outcome.

I’ve been trying to find one of the Liberty units, out of stock everywhere. How do you like it? I only pull a twin axle so it seems the best fit for my use.

It's simple and worked well for me. I had a tekonsha primius IQ in my last vehicle, that was good too but no ideal place to mount it I liked. Loved how this RedARc fit like it was factory in the Taco. I'm using it with a pop up that has brakes, so one axle. It was perfect for my needs.

I don't know what is going on with them now. In the summer it just came out and I scooped one up.
I wasn't aware of it being out of stock now. Then I checked RedARc's website and they say the Liberty model is not available till March 19th. I don't know why it's out of stock, could be a production delay related to the global chip shortage.

I ordered one of these last night. Glad to see there are plenty of good reviews for this product, TW helped me confirm my decision.

Tekonsha was what I had in our 2009 Tacoma and like you the fact that this has such a small footprint is what got me looking.

I already have the harness and adapter plate that goes by the power inverter switch. I had ordered one from two different places only to be told they were out of stock days later. Maybe it’s for the best since you shouldn’t tow for the first 500 miles. I see they now show that March date on their site. Probably sitting in a container on one of the 60 plus ships sitting in the bay waiting to be unloaded.

sortof stock. 6112/5160, pro wheels and a tune.
i have all if the above. the redarc harness, switch blank, and a tow pro elite ( would have got the liberty, but it wasnt out yet)

i love the thing. no busting my knees, easy to use, couldnt be easier to install. i kept the instructions in my glove box because i keep forgetting how to change to the user mode.
on my next tacoma- i will be taking this with me. worth every penny to not havr headaches.

I'd wait and get in the email alerts for when the Liberty becomes available again if you can wait.
If not and you can spend the extra for the elite controller that will be good too.
I know mine shipped out fast when I ordered it. I think RedARc shipped out from North Carolina, it was definitely in the US. They are made in Australia so they probably are in a ship somewhere now.

I’m in no big rush and it looks like they will have them very soon. For a while their site just said “coming back soon” now it has a March 19th date so that’s a good sign.
