I don’t like the feel of the factory knob. I just haven’t had the free cash to buy a new one. To busy buying other stuff. Lol
As far as the noise goes I doubt it would be too much louder than factory. At least my truck has the whine that I associate to a manual. No big deal.
I just want a smoother shifting action.

No issue with the existing port -- I just want to add a second "OEM" port since all the aftermarket options look very distinctly aftermarket.

I started yesterday on a project to mount the adapter in a switch-sized hole instead of the default stumpier hole reserved for the actual OEM port. I will post an actual build thread once it's complete but here are some in-progress shots:

    20210228_134514.jpg 20210228_182838.jpg 20210228_183400.jpg 20210228_185955.jpg 20210228_191405.jpg 20210228_192328.jpg 20210228_193436.jpg

She looks a little rough, but down on the dash in the shadows any shoddy craftsmanship should hopefully be hard to spot. Using acetone to melt the plastic together is the real MVP here --it leaves joints super well bonded without any messy glue to worry about cleaning up as it dries.

You have a part number on those?

Was looking into a chrome delete, but going OEM seems the best route for parts like this vs. any kind of snap on shell.

Why not make it a USB-C if you are going through all of that customization?

Better hurry or it would be sold out fast.

Edit: If you prefer OEM like handles, then you should take the handles out and paint them then put them back on. I know lot of work but if you want "OEM" route.

If I want to sell my truck, I can take them off and place them on new truck if the design stays the same. If not, I can sell handles on here.

I may do USB-C, since ultimately this will plug a phone into an HDMI convertor with power passthrough. Was just going with USB for starters since the hole is already rectangular, and the desire is for people to be able to plug in lightning or USB-C cables to stream video. If I cannot find a proper USB-A port that is 3.1 and can handle a video signal, then I will change my plans to 100% USB-C without trying to emulate OEM.

This was the original setup I tried, but none of these USB-A male to USB-C female adapters are USB 3.1 rated for video signal so it wasn't as simple as I'd hoped:

    20210301_112040.jpg 20210301_112014.jpg 20210301_112025.jpg

Which would then plug into this (which works as shown without any other connections prior to the USB-C):

Now I have purchased these, and hope I can daisy chain together some franken adapter:

Perhaps using a hot knife would have worked better to carve out the slot for the USB?

It might've resulted in a cleaner gouge for sure. I have a little shitty soldering iron type thing that can take shaped attachments (I think for wood burning?) and considered going that route... but due to my relative inexperience with heating plastics to shape/cut them I opted for the Dremmel which has... alright results. If you have a link to a hot knife that's half decent I would pick it up and try this again in the future (for that 100% super nice OEM non-half-assed look.)

This is what I use. You should be able to find this at any big hardware store.

I'm a bit late to the reply, but as others have stated, it is indeed a TRDOR DCLB, which is a standard option where I live.
