    March 2021:
The day has come, my 2013 has been paid off for some time and finally feel comfortable taking it for some overlanding. Since I can buy another vehicle if needed. I still want it to be my daily driver to continue saving for other reasons. It just makes more sense for me to use the truck for most stuff and my motorcycle for shorter rides. I’ve been searching for a couple months and decided to order RCI steel skids. Also thinking of ordering the leaf springs and suspension soon.

I’m on a stock 4x4 sport short bed.

    Overland goals:
All year round capable. I’ve done some mild stuff in California & Arizona on my stock truck but did get a nice ding in my oil pan a while back, oops. It will be me and the dogs half the time and the other half with a friend or two getting to more isolated camping spots. Intermediate and some hard trails and occasional desert runs where I would like to push the speed, mid-travel style, not too intense.

3/1/2021 thoughts since the bed will be heavy:

Wedge Camper build or Alu Cab
    Deaver HD springs
    EMU BP51
*wedge camper: rear bumper w/ tire swing out

Maybe I’m going a bit overboard, so hopefully I’ll get some suggestions that cost less but I doubt it lol. Pic of my before attached. Excited for the learning and mods.

    Update 4/7/2021:
    1. Ordered and installed Cali Raised Rock Sliders
    2. Waiting on RCI Steel Skids
    3. Deposit Placed on GFC Camper, expected October 2021
    4. Ordered Kings w/ DSC, estimated June arrival.
    5. Deaver Stage II Leaf Springs ordering late summer
    6. UCA-ICON DJ ordered
    7. Research Bump Stops
    8. Research if carrier drop kit for drive shaft is needed
    9. Wheelers Extended brake lines ordered
    10. Wheelers differential drop kit ordered
    11. Pick Air compressor

Thanks for the suggestion, looks like a great build to take a few things from. Noticed a few things I didn’t consider. Down the rabbit hole I go.

I’m very happy with the look of the lift and how much smoother it rides. Took her out this weekend right after the parts were installed. Interested in meet ups and getting together with others into off-roading and overlanding. Planning to go to Overland Expo West at end of the month.

Not sure if IG handles allowed, will remove if not.

It’s taken a long time to get to this point and I can’t stop staring at the truck. Will be traveling in it soon.

It’s been over a year since starting this build. Next week I’ll be picking up the Super Pacific camper. So I’ve sold some things and the Tacoma is topless and looking sexy

I’m not sure what the future holds for the Tacoma but I’m excited to be getting the camper and planning to travel in it in a few weeks.

Tested out the Super Pacific. Being able to easily attach several items to the rear and side doors is so useful! And I like that I’m able to test different positions w/o committing to drilling or overthinking the way I usually do.

It dropped into the 40s overnight so I had to get in my sleeping bag. But it wasn’t bad at all inside. It was cozy in there and spent the evening reading. Other than an issue with closing the tent that was solved by using a rubber mallet, I’m quite happy with it. Gonna take it out for 3 weeks soon!

Sold the Tacoma today. Something I wasn’t sure about for a while. I would have preferred to stick with the Tacoma but since I’ll be living on the road for another 1-2 years, the Tundra is better suited for pulling the trailer. Bye Trokeeta, you were a great adventure buddy for 10 years.
