    Hi everyone,

New member here in the process of buying a used 2018 Taco for my first truck ever from Carvana. So far so good with this truck and really liking it so far. Well maintained too based on the carfax. However, I recently noticed a strange inconsistent buzzing noise from the engine when its on and idle. You can hear more in the video and where the location of the noise might be coming from. I took it to an independent shop to have it inspected and claimed everything was fine except for some transmission box fluid needing replacement. Im aware of the taco tick, but this noise was different. To also add, Im not sure if this is normal, but the engine noise in general is very inconsistent and would sound loud then quiet and even sound like its speeding up for some reason when I start it up and let the engine run.

Would really appreciate any input on this and thanks a bunch.

It does sound a bit strange, can really hear how inconsistent it is in the recording. My truck does not sound like that. It does get loud and sounds like a diesel at times but I know why and it’s normal.

Curious what others have to say, good luck man.

I would have liked to have actually seen the engine...

    Two things come to mind:
    1) the noise seems almost like plastic vibrating - check the fan shroud, top cover, air box, etc. - just start pressing on things to see if the noise changes (mind the belt drive and fan, they will win over a challenging finger every time)

    2) I have had bearings on an idler or other belt driven unit make noises like that - you can take the belt off and run the engine briefly

Let us know what you find -- and welcome to TacomaWorld :hattip:

Here is the location of where the noise is coming from. Still no luck in finding a solution.
