Id try vftune first then make your decision after that. When tuned they drive pretty incredibly without a SC. I am getting one mostly just cause I am usually very high altitude and it should help a bunch with that. I haven’t installed the SC yet but a bunch of people in here answered yes when I asked essentially the same question recently.

Yes the supercharger helps a lot in the low range. I towed my friends car today and it was effortless. I had slight boost under load at 1000rpms and was able to easily get moving from a stop in 2nd gear as an experiment. It was like I wasn’t even pulling a trailer.

I’d absolutely buy it again... if I could afford it lol.

I'm in the same boat living around 6000ft. I need to go test drive a few and see if I can deal with drastically lower engine output than what I've gotten used to.

I would really like the whole thing dialed before dropping $7k and the older I get the less impulsive I am with my money. Most products seem like their in a constant downward spiral as far as quality so I'm being cautious and observing the early adopters to see how these pan out.

Magnuson produces very high quality kits... much is near or even above OEM levels.

To be honest, I wish I unboxed the damn thing before install....or read other advice given. I have to wait for the new tuner upgrade and it takes 3-5 days! ughhhh!

    ^^^ This.

Fits like a glove. All the parts there. None missing, broken or mismatched. Instructions that you can actually follow. Support you likely won't find or match for any other SC or Snail kit producer. Makes the truck drive so much nicer - power it never had before. Worth every penny IMO - which was less than web posted pricing. I do agree it is your $$ and you should be the one to make the decision.

Magnuson got its CARB # for the supercharger now for you Cali people.

    copied from their Facebook
“The 2016-2020 Tacoma kit comes complete with CARB issued EO D-488-49 making it legal for sale in 50 states including California.”

    This is very true.

Magnuson prides themselves on producing quality right out of the box and it is very apparent the moment you put your hands on the kit. They seem to be one of the remaining few companies out there that actually uses and puts quality into what they produce.

??? so do we contact them and request it ? Or will they send based on sale record?

Also - many have done the self install, me included, do we qualify for the limited parts warranty? Pretty obvious none of us self-installers and vehicles already over the mileage restriction don't meet the 36K mile limited warranty requirements. Just wondering if they, Magnuson, will not issue a CARB to those of us in this boat. ??

Hopefully Version 8 of the Tune is coming soon too - who knows what it will offer over current V7.

I would like to know this too. I reached out to Magnuson and they told me to contact my dealer. We'll need it for smog cert in Cali. It's and auto fail without the sticker. I have plenty of smog techs that can over look that but Ill need it if I ever sell my truck.

Absouletly love your setup bud, just incredible. I have a M/T 16 and I am about 99% on pulling the trigger, I just wish someone with a manual lived in nashville and I could give it a test drive, but honestly after reading your install a million times I know it will be a whole new tacoma.
Are you running the stock clutch and flywheel setup?

Well I'm falling prey to the sirens call of the blower, I'm like a crack addict!

I blame you mostly for making me call Magnuson and order a blower this morning!!!

Talked with Wyatt at x587 and he was a great guy to deal with and I'm impatiently awaiting my blower!!!!

Based on this article, not much of a difference..

    https://www.motortrend.com/cars/toyota/tacoma/2016/2016-toyota-tacoma-v-6-first-test-review/

The lighter Tacoma SR5 proved to be the quicker of the two at the test track. It ran from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds and completed the quarter mile in 15.2 seconds at 91.6 mph. The Tacoma TRD wasn't too far behind; it hits 60 mph from a standstill in 7.1 seconds and will run the quarter mile on tarmac in 15.4 seconds at 91.2 mph.

Still not sure what this extra power does based on everyone's feedback. Maybe just towing and heavy trucks I guess.

7/10 of a second is a pretty substantial decrease in time for a 0-60. I haven't driven one but if you compare the stock versus s/c dyno charts the real improvement is a huge increase in bottom end torque which should fix the majority of complaints about a gutless minivan motor in the Tacoma.

Keep in mind that magazines like motortrend use a special method to get 0-60 numbers. My timer starts the instant the clutch grabs. They start the clock after the FRONT wheels move 1ft. Also this is under ideal conditions on a prepared surface.
I never got much below 8 second 0-60s before the SC.
