Me too lol I almost went with Sony A7rii but got the 5d mkiii instead at that time because of the lens that I had. Currently have 3 lens only. Sigma 24mm 1.4 art, Sigma 85mm 1.4 art, and just received the Canon RF 35mm 1.8 the other day. Not sure how I feel about that lens yet..

What do you have in mind? What are you currently shooting with and what kind of photos do you mainly take and/or want to do? Budget? I can only speak for the gears I've used so I'm more than happy to answer any questions here or you can PM me. I'm not an expert by any means and feedback will be purely off of my subjective experience :D

Oh man I have no experience in birds and wildlife. A lot of folks in the photography forum I go on use the R6 for "birds in flight" quite a bit and the results are stunning but that's an expensive body so hmm $1,000 for body I would suggest getting the 5D mkiii. After shooting 70D for about 5 years I finally went full frame, got the 5D mkiii and loved it! Super fast focus, tack sharp images, and great in low lights. You can find used ones on eBay in good/great condition just as long as you're patient. I bought mine for $1,200 and it came with the Canon 17-40 f/4. Body was in perfect condition (paint not scraping off) with low shutter count. Pictures on the 5D paired with my Sigma 85mm art were tack sharp even wide open. I used to hate going above ISO 3200 on my 70D because the noise will be pretty noticeable but with the 5D I comfortably went ISO 6400 and even higher and times and noise was very minimal. I know with super telephoto lens for birding you're left with a small aperture to start with and if you're birding at dawn/dusk I know light sucks so the higher ISO can come as an advantage.

I love it! For sure mirrorless is going to be the future of photography. Nothing wrong with the 5 series and they're tried and tested. With the R6 you're able to see exposure and everything through the electronic view finder in real time as you're taking pictures. You can adjust your aperture/iso/shutter speed and see how it'll alter your picture without having to: compose, take picture, look at picture, adjust setting, take picture, look at picture, adjust settings if needed, and so on. I read and watched so many reviews during the summer/fall and finally I pulled the trigger and got one November. Quickly sold my 5D mkiii after. The main selling point for me is the eye detection. Being able to pick up my camera, point, and shoot without having to worry about where the point of focus is or fiddle with the point of focus or recompose your human/four legged subject has been awesome. If you have a dog - taking pictures of your dog has been awesome. Having the camera focus point follow the subject as they move around kind of feels like cheating lol Another plus is I can comfortably shoot over 12,000 ISO (even higher) with little to no noise. I now shoot with auto ISO (that's how comfortable I am with the noise) and adjust shutter speed/aperture as needed. I recommend renting one and the EF EOS R adapter and try your current EF lens on them if you're thinking about getting one. You'll be amazed at how tack sharp the images are, even at wide open.

I love my old Canon Rebel T2i EOS. I’ve had it for ten years and it still serves me well.

Thanks for all the info, does sound awesome, soon I hope!! The problem I sometimes have with my 5D, is the constant setting stuff, looking at the shot, which never looks the same when looking at them on the computer, I shoot in manual, control everything, and getting that tack sharp shot is hard, constant learning curve! Sometimes I think the camera is the problem, lol.....
