Yes, this! Exactly what I've been preaching. They're either sold before they land, like some TRD Pros, or some others. If it's not pre-sold, 99% of the time, the "salesman" who really just works as a customer intake person most of the time either isn't privy to inventory or is just looking at the front end dealer website just like you are. If you fire off emails to multiple dealers, you'll quickly figure out who may be easy to work with versus who just won't.

One thing to keep in mind: we all enjoy Tacomas. That's why we're here. To a dealer, they're not special at all. They are stock units. Floorplan inventory that's costing them money on a very expensive revolver from their credit facilities every day it sits on the lot, and anything you might think it special is just another VIN in a spreadsheet to them. Go in there dispassionately and find your vehicle.

just talked to the original sales manager here in WA , told him that I was stopping by to get my deposit back , he was still trying to convince me to buy the AT.

Longo Toyota is the largest dealer in SoCal. They ordered a TRD Sport Access Cab MT in Magnetic Grey for me back in 2017 no problems. It took a few months but they did call me back when it arrived, I had already purchased the super white from another dealer by then though.

 

That was easy, lol.
