Which portable power station for my new fridge?

I used the search bar but didn't find too much info on this subject. I figured I would ask the experts here on TW. After doing some research, I decided to pull the trigger on a budget friendly 45L fridge freezer by Rough Country and a fridge slide from Ironman 4x4 (links below). I want to run a portable power station for now and maybe a dual battery setup in the future. What is a good portable power station that will run my fridge for 2-3 days. I have the Rockpals 350W power station with their 100W solar panel in my Amazon cart but waiting to purchase (link added). What are you using to power your fridge for your weekend trips? How long is it powering it for?

*I'll be upfront, I'm having a hard time understanding all the electrical math involved*

It will draw 3.75 amps when running which at 12 volts is 45 watts. The 0.2 kWh per day is the estimated draw based on average run time. If you back calculate they are assuming a duty cycle of 19% or ~4.5 hours per day, this is average and could be more or less depending on outside temp and setpoint of fridge.

to figure out a battery size to power, assuming you’d be camping out for 2 days, you’d be using it for 3.75 amps * 9 hours, so you’d want at least a 33.75 ah battery.

 

Checking the specs on the power station it’s rated at 78Ah so you should be able to power for 20.8 hours. At 4.5 hours run time per day, you should be able to run the fridge for about 4.5 days in theory without having to recharge the power pack. I would check actual amp draw when running to verify the ratings they supply. Maybe get a watt hour meter and do some testing if you’re so inclined.

no problem. Keep in mind all those numbers are theoretical. These are conservative, likely assuming you don’t open the fridge because it’ll probably run longer than advertised in a given day, they probably also assume whatever the default temp is set to for the rating, so lowering or raising will change how long it runs, and also assuming battery of power pack is at 100% of rating and you aren’t using the pack to power anything else. I’d say based on what I see though you can easily run 2-3 days.

I power my arb fridge off an optima d34 which has a C20 capacity of 55 Ah, and it easily lasts all weekend 2-3 days of camping without needing to be recharged

 

I'll keep those items in mind when I run the fridge. Super helpful info! I appreciate you sharing what you are using. I will eventually add a second battery to the taco but for now I'll buy this battery pack.
