All the striations are going the same way. Looks like it was dragged across something before it was installed if anything.

I see exactly what you are talking about and it looks like you are right, it looks like cracked Powdercoat... I would reach out to bilstein if they are really only a year old and yoi bought them new. IF they are cracking like that now, wont be long before moisture gets under there and starts the rust.

That is if you can verify it is cracking, I cant imagine what else would make that pattern.

IF they are indeed cracks we are seeing Id bet they take care of you in one way or another. Powdercoating is done in batches and pretty easy to mess up, Not enough degreasing of part prior, too thick of coat, too thin of coat, not enough heat while baking, too much heat while baking, cooldown to quick, too long of a bake, not long enough, etc etc... Im not sure if they use a special process or powder for a coil as they see so much flexing, but that adds some complexity as well and it looks like they are stress cracks from the movement of spring.

Let us know what they say

cleaner photo. talked with bilstein. he said something doesnt look right, so i also at this point contacted headstrong. bilstein will probably want to look at the coils, which they are on my DD, so thats not going to work. so ill probably have to eat it and buy new coils.
