Hey guys, can’t seem to find online what the differences are between these 285/70/17 bfg at ko2s:

i am refering to the different coding of the tires in the same size and load range.

    ones a “q” ones an “s”.....
I think it means q rated for up to 99mph
And s rated up to 149....is this correct?

If I'm not mistaken...one was made specifically as an OEM tire for Jeeps a couple years ago. I think Chrysler had a specific requirement on their tires. I don't think you can actually buy that one at a tire shop. I'm not sure which is which.

Never understood the speed ratings over 100mph
When I was younger I would have friends tell me they got new Z rated tires.... like thats great, but you drive a civic, your not going over 85 in that shitbox.

i rarely go over 90 in my tacoma, but regularly around 80-85 on freeway. I think for me, id rather have my tire rated for well over what i would do on it, vs. having it within 9 mph of it's limit of what i drive at normally. highly doubt it would ever come apart on me, but i'll go with the higher rating if i can.
never know when i might need to go over 106! hahaha
