Leer 100xr....ugly chrome taillight help

Recently bought a leer 100xr for my 2020 cement trd ORLB....like the topper but the chrome rear light is hideous. Spoke w window tint guy said tint wouldn’t last outside any other options as the light seems odd shaped long and thin. Post picture after work

Yeah light coat of VHT niteshade or disassemble the light?

 

Totally forgot about the spray or even laminex film may be easiest and cheapest. $9.99 2”x10” sheet for light bar in smoke. Need to measure to confirm size when get home

 

As you can see by the following picture, my Leer 100XR (which I got in December) does not have a chrome third brake light. Go back to the dealer and have him replace it with one like this:

 

Damn! I called leer this morning they said no options other than chrome from leer!

 

They were lying. Show them this picture.

 

Called dealer he’s looking into it...thx for heads up! Looks so much better. See you didn’t get win-doors either? Wanted them but didn’t think have enough air flow fir my dog as much smaller screen area

 

Could be a regional thing not available to them. Not necessarily the store lying.

 

My son was telling me, you can put the whole assembly in the oven at 200 degrees for 30 minutes, then take them apart.
Do your mods, then add some more of the "correct" sealant, and press them back together.

 

Anyway you could ask your dealer if was done after delivery from leer and get part number possibly. Thx for your help.

 

It came from the factory that way.

I have to say that I've had a Leer cap on my previous truck for over 20 years. During that time, the brake light assembly has had to be replaced twice. The first time was under warranty, and the second time I simply got a replacement on ebay. The point being that these are replaceable parts, and the Leer company stocks them, even if individual dealers don't. The dealer should be able to get it from Leer.

Since, in your case, this is a preference item, it probably isn't covered by the warranty, and the dealer will charge you full retail for the replacement. At that point, get the part number and go on ebay to find it cheaper.

 

thx I got a part number from someone of 106860 but can’t corm it’s exact fit. After $2,650 I’m not paying anything!

 

I understand completely. If they want to keep you as a satisfied customer, they should be willing to do an even swap for a different type of brake light. Heck, you could even make the argument that the chrome is more valuable / desirable, and that they would be coming out ahead.

I've had Leer on all my trucks.
Their customer service on their products should not feel like I've been bent over to get what's needed.
Their products are not cheap, hence the styles at the time when purchased.
Back then, I bought top of the line.

The issue with the brake light, or any replacement part, should be made available.
I have no problem spending my money elsewhere, if that's the way they want to deal with things.
