What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

anybody know of any good seat rails for aftermarket seats? looking to finally pull the trigger. probably going with some NRG seats

Have you looked at Corbeau or Mastercraft?
They both make specific brackets for our trucks.
Don't know about compatibility with NRG though

I think most people just cut and weld rails they have, I can see the appeal in not doing that though.

First Post. Been reading on here a while. Had toyotas ranging from 1980 to 2001 (current black Limited double cab which is my hunting truck). Today i installed OME 2883 springs w/ Bilsteins, new ball jts upper and lower, new front axles, tie rod ends, brake pads and rotors, and rear bilsteins. Im putting the ARB bumper on sometime soon. I've had the truck a few yrs. Figured since it was 20 years old, it needed some attention. Great site. read lots of useful info.

 

Is the rust issue on 1st gens just as bad on 4runners. 05 model. Almost picked one up tonight but glad i looked under.

Have had a manual Painless solenoid (flip switch, send power to secondary battery) for several years now. It worked fine but just sent whatever the alternator decided it had to give which is not necessarily what the 2nd battery wants at any given time. Now that I have an expensive Battleborn LiFePo battery as my 2nd I decided I want to treat it well and so got a Victron DC-to-DC converter (big blue box on the left - small blue box on the right is my solar controller).


Now when I am driving between adventures it massages the power coming from the alternator to give the battleborn exactly the volts and amps it wants to keep it in tip top shape. I even see it getting the battery into absorption and float modes on longer drives.

And, Yes, I will clean up the wiring, just wanted to get it working before figuring out routing.
