Anyone have issues with there lower ball joints? Mine are both split and grease is everywhere so it is time to replace. Doesn’t look like Toyota sells just the ball joint so would have to buy all new lower control arms. Do I go that route or bite the bullet and get aftermarket LCA with Uniball and never worry about it again.

Are you actually having issues or is the rubber boot just split. Boots crack and split all the time. As long as the ball joint is solid you shouldn’t need to replace it.

Ball joint issues aren't really a thing on these trucks. Regardless - Rockauto has them > https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/toyota,2016,tacoma,3.5l+v6,3354143,suspension,ball+joint,10070

Wrong answer. Once the boot is torn, grit gets into it and eats it up! Same as a CV joint.

Maybe, but it might take 10 years to go bad too. I’ve seen guys inject grease into damaged rubber boots with a needle on their grease guns to make ball and socket joints last longer. It works.
Ripped CV joint boots are a different story, but personally, I wouldn’t waste my money and time replacing a ball joint until it looked either really dry and rusty, seized, or there was play in it........

But not, a torn boot doesn't mean your ball joints are bad. Will it contribute to increase wear and tear, yes. However people have thousands upon thousands of miles on ball joints with torn boots. Several aftermarket ball joints dont even have boots or dust covers...

Ball joints even with torn boots last for 100k miles

Yeah, OK. I can agree with that. It's just my being anal about any joint that's exposed to outside elements. Yes, CV joints will wear faster as there is more movement.

I think the best recommendation in regards to all joints (weak links) when the rubber seal becomes compromised is still to replace.
Once condensation and contaminants get a chance to do their dirty deed, safety becomes paramount.

I’d have to replace ball joints like every 10k...

I had to replace one a few months ago. Used an ac delco ball joint. Ended up breaking the ball joint press from advanced auto in half. Had to use a shop press to get it in. It was a pain.

I've seen guys replace boots then refill with grease getting most of the grit out and no issues after. With that being said I would just replace it to be on the safe side.
