Yes, that car is pretty far up...we could probably get a few well equipped trucks to it but it would be an ordeal.

With where scrap prices are right now. It might be worth it.

I'm game to help, looks like it'd be a fun weekend.

If I may ask, which part would be the ordeal? Reaching it? Would quads work?

Or getting that heap onto to the trail.

What permissions would we need to get equipment up there, etc?

Lots of issues with removing abandoned cars on public property.
Need to get police involved to run a vin make sure it wasn't stolen, involved in a crime, etc.
Would need written approval to even touch said car.
Would need written approval to get motorized vehicles back there.
Would need written approval taking ownership of said vehicle before anyone could scrap it. (would be a beneficial re-use agreement with zero liability noted)
If people were serious about it, it would probably start with phone call to the local ENCON

I’d say that recovering that car is out of the question. It’s somewhere around the arrow in the satellite view. There are 2-3 bridges either out or only snowmobile width when approaching from downstream (South) and the vegetation was getting prohibitively thick as n the upstream side. Mt. Bike recon when the snow melts.A89C3092-6622-446E-B317-3CF1EB6CDB16.jpgCF60B8FD-8347-4900-BEC6-39EB8BFD6261.jpg

Agreed. One alternative with ownership - once extracted, it (whatever shape it's in) doesn't need to be scrapped. It can be returned, possibly in bags, to the owner's front lawn. Or, police impound.

If you get the chance to make that recon, discover what path it took to get there. That might be the trick to getting it out. Either way, that sounds like it'll be a fun ride! My legs hurt just thinking about it. And get a photo of a vin if you can, per imferg's note.

If access permissions are granted, worst case, Sawzall goes brr, and we get a local radio station to make a "hike it out" event. Best case, it's a fun winch job with a truck or a quad.

Anyone want to take a hike out to the Subaru next Sunday, scout to see if a plausible path exists, get an exact location, VIN # and then bring that to Encon police?

We're up for an adventure. I'm sure they already know it's there. It's a fairly old car.

Hi all just moved to the city. Looking for places to explore and people to meet. Any recommendations for dispersed camping and trails to check out? Thanks

We didn't find it. I don't think we walked far enough. A bad snow squall blew in so we turned around. There were a lot of culvert (bridges) washed out. Here is the route we took Screenshot_20210317082718.jpg
This is just a few examples of the washed out culvertsIMG_20210314_123825.jpg IMG_20210314_111257.jpg The one good bridge was plenty wide and strong enough to fit a truck IMG_20210314_131146.jpg
