It's decent but could definitely be much better. If you drive other vehicles with better engines and then get in the Tacoma it's quite lacking in comparison.

Of course I drove cars/trucks that were quicker and had more powerful engines. It’s just I think this 3.5L has plenty of power for a taco even on stock tune, with a premium SFOB tune this thing is a little beast.

All things in life aren’t perfect and could be improved.

I agree. I have no complaints on power. For one I know it’s a V6.

And if I truly want power at some given MPH then I’ll just throw the truck in S-Mode in the appropriate gear selection and drive in the power band range of 3500rpms plus.

    S-Mode 3 at 45mph - 55mph has HUGE power to spare.

They claim it adds 33% more power which would add a little over 90 hp for $6500. I wouldn’t pay that but there’s not many other options to add that kinda power without moving up to a full sized truck.

As far as power, it's not a concern or care for Toyota engineers. They are only concerned with emissions and fuel efficiency. Better start looking for a performance enhancer. I installed a Sprint Booster V3 Throttle Response Enhancer along with a TRD Cold Air Intake and Throttle Inlet Spacer. Happy with the results.

If I end up going through with buying a '21 with a manual I plan to put the magnuson charger on it. The horsepower increase is nice but I'm mainly after the huge increase in low end torque for driveability and towing. A 55hp increase at the wheels is nice but an extra 100ft/lbs of torque at 2600rpm is even better.

It's funny how Dodge and Ram have such horse power performance vehicles but don't compete in NASCAR. You can always get a new Ram TRX with the 6.2l 702hp for $82000.00

I keep contemplating the OV Tuner but haven't pulled the trigger.

Idk. I haven’t seen any super charger / tune / turbos etc with a million miles on it. Or half that

No one has seen a 3rd gen 3.5l with a million miles either. There are plenty of turbo and supercharged engines lasting 500k+ miles. Longevity has nothing to do with the forced induction and everything to do with proper maintenance.

You are completely wrong. Toyota only cares about giving their customers what they want... and the majority of Tacoma buyers want the truck in it's current form and power.
People forget that Toyota is in business to make money... pure and simple... and they way you sell trucks is give customers what they want. Unfortunately not very many people want more power in a Tacoma.

They definitely design and sell a quality product. No doubt about that. But the Almighty Government and $ do come first.

Trust me... if the demand was high enough they would give you a thousand hp Tacoma and pay the luxury tax. Again, if demand is there they will make it. The demand simply is not there. 20 or 200 or 2000 people wanting it is not demand. 200000 people demand it they will listen.... maybe.

I'm just saying, more power would be nice. I dont feel like that is controversial or derogatory toward the truck.
