Ive got the “smaller” leaf pack and didn’t need an extender. Here is what I got from IM when I asked about extended/compression lengths-
The specs of the rear 45744FE shocks are 610mm extended and 399mm compressed. The front struts 45710FE are 564mm extended and 432mm compressed.

I decided to bite the bullet as well. Got it with load coils and springs. I figure I can remove a leaf or two to get 3" until I add a rear bumper and other junk. Not to mention I might as well prepaint the the separated leafs and add anti squeak pads before they go on in an effort to avoid some of the more common complaints. I guess I have until they restock in a few weeks to talk myself out of it, but I'm looking forward to some new suspension. Hoping it'll feel like a cadillac compared to my 140k mile saggy suspension haha.

only Cadillac I’ve been in was probably 20 years old and busted, so probably not the best ride lol.

 

As far as I'm concerned, anything will be leagues above what I have now lol. Plus I've got super bumps and timbrens on the way, so those should help quite a bit too.

 

On the Ironman stage 2 suspensions, what load rating did everyone get performance or the heavyweight constant load? Also what are you running on your rigs?

I have a pretty stock 2014 trd Off Road, double cab with a front runner bed rack and Yakima rtt. I just got the Ironman skids and I’m still debating about switching out the front and rear bumpers, but it may wait a bit before I add that. So any advise on the load level you choose and if your happy with the ride? Thx

 

It sounds like you need the Performance front and rear. I can get you a reaaalllyyyyy good price on the setup if you're looking.

My truck has
Front bumper, skid plate, winch, sliders, camper shell, gear, rear bumper and roof racks. I have the Constant Load front and Performance Leafs.

 

Bro that is the perfect setup, that’s exactly the build I would like to do. So with the constant in the front and performance in the back how does it feel on the washboards, washout etc as well as just driving on the daily freeways and around town? Would you stay with the same setup or go heavier or lighter?

Thanks for the kind words! I've gone through both Pro Comp, 3rd Gen and 5100's and I LOVE this setup. It is SO comfortable! Passes the wife n kids test and flexes nicely. Washboards are laughable. It really just eats up work. I wouldn't change anything on it. My driveline and CV's are great.

So this ECGS bushing, it replaces the need for the needle bearing? How did you know which one to get? I see several on their website: 7.5, 8, 9"

Did you get the Timbrens on yet? How do you like those? I just ordered the active off road set with the u bolt flip kit from Wheelers.

I'm working through a needle bearing/ecgs bushing swap as we speak. You're correct, the ECGS bushing replaces the needle bearing on the driver side CV. Passenger side is a ball bearing, so this is not necessary/applicable.

The tacoma (05+) all run the 8" clamshell bushing.

I'm heading to my local 4wd shop Monday to talk through this and try to get it installed sooner than later. I also ordered the $22 replacement axle seal, but declined the tool. I figure if I'm paying labor, they should have the necessary tools... Ill update this thread after the swap with any changes I notice. Hopes are high to get the truck running smooth again!

 

No, I got the front superbumps in (amazing btw) but I'm waiting to lift the rear to make room for the timbrens. I actually decided to back out of the ironman kit as a few members along with this thread were able to persuade me due to easily rusting leafs, squeaky ucas, and the unpredictability of the rear lift kind of put me off. Not to mention it was just over the top of my budget. I'll be waiting on another kit now, so it might be a while before I get the timbrens on.

 

I hear ya on that, it’s a lot of money and if you have doubts it makes sense. FWIW, I don’t think I’ve noticed any rust on the leafs but I coated them and the rest of the undercarriage in Woolwax before winter. I also got the stage 1 and the performance leaf pack so no issues with the squeaky UCA or height in the rear.
What are you going to end up with? Lot’s of other great choices.

 

Totally understand where you're coming from! Im staring at rusted leafs, and have dealt with inconsistent Coil measurements. No issues with UCA's as of now, and and my rear spring situation was self inflicted so I can't comment on that. I'm curious to see where you land, as I'm not sure there's a comparable kit within the price point of Ironman. Regardless, best of luck in your venture and build, keep us updates as you continue building!

 

I'm thinking I'll go with bilstein 6112s with 650lb coils, 5160s in the rear, and AP 3" leafs with a jba uca. Waiting on a sale from wheelers, so it should be a few hundred cheaper than the ironman. But I definitely hear you, that's why it was so hard to cancel this kit. Rebuildable, adjustable 2.5s sound great for this price and you can't really argue against it. I was just looking for something a bit cheaper that had a solid reputation.
