All tie posts gave me the idea. There anchor is multi purpose comes with its own built in hammer but cost about $375.So I went shopping for posts spoke to a few engineers and Here we are.
The versatility of the All Tie product is very tempting. Check it out,

If you’re using it with a winch it would just slowly pull out of the ground it’s not going to fly out and kill you or go through your windshield.

Next time I’m stuck in sand(which is not often for a shore fisherman) I will video the recovery. It’s a littl bit of an upper body work out to screw the anchors in and out. You may break a sweat (if the ambient temperature is in the high 80’s).Other than that put the truck in neutral and winch.

Very excellent!!! I spent the last few months putting together a 'bug out'/hiking backpack that will go with me and has some survival essentials which covers a few items on this list. Now to start assembling the rest!

When I went to Baja regularly I carried a Dansforth anchor. Pulls itself right in and pulls out by simply pulling it the other way.

Thats kind of a cool idea. How much could you pull on it before it would give way?

All depended on the soil like any winch anchor. But once we hooked two connected to a chain that was connected to the winch cable. Sort of a V shape. Took everything my Warn wench could put out. They didn't come out, by neither did my CJ-8. Sand can be so deceiving. It will sift through your hand, but bury a vehicle up to the frame and it ain't going no where.

Been meaning to ask, how much starter fluid and or how would you use it to get the tire back on the bead?

    Good Read, thanks OP

I would double tap on mentality.

I aim to never expend more than 40% of my effort, supplies, fuel ect going in, 40% coming out, with 20% left in reserve.

An interesting statistic is that the majority of the people who die climbing everest perish on the decent.
They get tunnel vision on the summit and expend too much energy to get to the top and are running on empty on the way back.

I also like the idea that issues can become problems that can become emergencies.
The trick is to deal with them at the lowest level as soon as possible.

This was one of the best tests of my vehicle load out and 48 hr bag

    IMG_2126.jpg

Back in my jeep days (don't judge me I have since repented) I took my jeep out with a buddy of mine who also owns a jeep. We met up with a friend of ours and his gf who were in a razor for a late spring Arizona day of moderate to difficult off-roading.

Our razor friend, excited by the capabilities of his razor and a little bored of the speed at which our jeeps were traveling convinced us to park the jeeps and ride with him. So I grabbed my backpack and strapped my self into the back seat.

And he proceeded to drive it like he stole it .... while escaping an insane asylum... with the cops hot on his heels.

After a few adrenaline fueled moments of excitement / terror we suddenly come to a barely controlled stop. The front control arm failed, sheering the tie rod and mangling the axle shaft. The vehicle was going nowhere. The trail we were driving on was a lesser used connector.

So we talked it out. The razor only had a basic tire change kit and spare belt, useless in this scenario. My razor friends supplies consisted of a half drunk water bottle. We didn't know how far we had gone from where we parked the jeeps but did rough math based on how many songs we had heard on the radio and approximate speed and judged the distance to be between 3 to 5 miles.

We split up water and supplies. My razor friend and his girlfriend agreed to stay with the vehicle unless they got a ride out and left the agreed upon signal. Jeep friend and I hoofed it what turned out to be a little bit over 5 miles back to the Jeeps in about 2 hours.

We made it back to the jeep and they began to remove the wheel while I unloaded my " I dont trust my jeep box" which contained just about every tool required to ensure that I could get my Chrysler product back to civilization.

We were able to disassemble the front end of the razor and ratchet it to my bumper and tow it home.

It ended well, other than a costly repair bill.

But to this day, if I am in the backcountry I don't step out of sight of my vehicle without grabbing my backpack and I carry everything that I need to self recover/repair / rescue.

Also when wheeling in groups do not assume someone else has a piece of equipment you might need.

I never go without my Garmin inReach, plenty of water, food and clothing, and my self protection mechanism. My odds of surviving after I send a text a friend and say need help here is my location go up by 100%. Would just stay put until someone came for me and would be able to hit SOS if I was in immediate danger or someone else was in immediate danger and needed the more extensive help. (Garmin inReach will not hold you responsible if you hit SOS for someone else) but you better be sure it is really needed because it is like calling 911. I have three good friends that have these and each of us are inReach buddies. My third free message goes out to my friend and my son and brother. Mine says I am stuck, safe but need help getting out of my situation. It would provide them my exact location and a way to ask me what I need to get out of the situation.

Since I am with all my supplies I can pitch a tent and eat well, have a drink and admire the messed up situation I got myself into or not. I also have instructed brother to post here if needed that "My brother is stuck at this location and needs member services":), anyone that is close to my location might be able to help me as I would them and may have the parts needed to get out or the means to help.
