SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
I like the fact that my Warn VR Evo has a dual-style controller - wired or wireless. The wireless works very nice, and with a "hidden" mount on my Taco it is much easier to use. However, the only way I can find for charging the controller is by connecting the hard line! Is there another way to charge this thing up, or is it relegated to a gimmick due to how you need to charge it? Cab-mounted controls??

Your going to have to charge the wireless control via the hard wire.

Nothing to keep you from moving the winch control where you want .

I am sure looking at your manual it should be easy to figure out.

The battery lasts forever (not really but a long time). Every once in a while I just plug it in in the driveway for a few hours. It will charge even with the vehicle power off.

Another thought figure out what you need to charge (voltage/ Amps) by the correct plugs you need build your own in Cab charger if your really fancy make it work off 120AC as well as 12VDC

Feb 10, 2022, just spoke with Warn tech-support and the information above is incorrect. The wireless remotes when unplugged is powered by three AAA batteries. They are not rechargeable by plugging it in as stated above. This change has been made by Warn in the most recent changes to the remote.

I just got a new Warn Evo 10S winch installed in March 2022. It comes with the remote that can be used either corded or wirelessly. I can confirm it now uses 3 AAA alkaline batteries. See Photos.

Removed the three screws holding the two halves of the remote together to separate the two halves to reveal the three AAA batteries.

Plug located in the bottom of the remote if you want to use the cord instead of wireless.

FYI, there is a recall for those remotes from warn. They are not watertight so can allow for corrosion and can cause some unrequested movement of your winch.

If anyone’s on the fence about the winch purchase because of the recall, Warn is offering a $100 rebate (Evo 10S) for the lack of a wireless remote.

Their wireless hub ($75) and app (free) works well. I got more range from the app and hub combo than I have winch line.

Did you get a rebate on the winch or a gift card?

I recently got the evo10s (wired remote) along with s bumper, lights and install.
I filed for the recall and they sent a new controller, like warn said but supposedly they’re supposed to send a $100 card....still waiting.

Hoping they come out with a wireless remote again, don’t want to use an app and potentially mess up my phone

It’s actually a coupon code that can be used on their site. Seems like I registered the winch through the site and somewhere in that process the remote questions came up.

I contacted Warn support with questions about something else and the lady that responded checked on it and emailed me the code.

    How long ago was that?
I was told by warn that a third party company was handling the rebates.

I really hope they come out with a wireless remote, not into using a phone app. Also I think they should send them for free or trade in the wired one.

I bought the winch about end of April/ first of May and honestly forgot about the code.

The customer support lady emailed the code when I talked to them around first of July.

I would have rather had a dedicated wireless remote also, but without it, I’m planning to store the wired one in the glovebox and use the phone. It’s my first winch, but I am impressed with the range of the app.

Same here, but so far have only done the first winch pull setting up the line properly.
Stock batt had no problem with that, but it was a flat pull in a parking lot.
