I’m always wrenching on something. And after doing it I find a lot of times my tools just get scattered everywhere and stay unorganized. I wanted to simplify things and keep it organized. Things i need it to do is,

    1) stay put inside the bed. Don’t want it sliding all around the bed being a thorn in my ass.

    2) somewhat organized. The drawers in the craftsman box help with that.

    3) big and small enough. Big enough to keep the essentials I use on a daily basis and more. Small enough to where I can take it out and carry it wherever I need to go.

I used some hooks as shown in the pics, and self tapping screws. It’s nowhere near as fancy as most stuff on here, but that’s just the point. It’s simple and fits my criteria. The factory hooks in the bed couldn’t hold it in place, had to do my own.

A bed mat is also something you can use. It's sticky enough that it keeps my tool box and other bins in the back in place while driving.

So the only thing holding that heavy box in place is a cheap bungie chord?

This has bad news written all over it. Good intentions, but that bungee cord isn’t gonna do shit if you slam brakes or worse hit something... that box is coming through the back window. If that’s where you want it, maybe a 1” ratchet strap around it. Something that has more tinsel strength than 3lbs.

I use an atlas 46 tool roll for mine. It's pricey but it's well made and keeps all my stuff nice and tidy. Easy to carry if I need to

Where I’m from, leaving tools in the truck bed is just asking to be robbed. Seen plenty of tonneau covers pried open because of this.

Different places different problems. I could leave my tools open in an uncovered bed and they would still be there in a month. Ammo is a different story lol.

I'd at least get a rubber bungee on that thing and replace those Tek screws with bolts and fender washers.
Props for tool organization though, I can't stand unorganized tools. I love my montezuma box for my truck tools.

My solution, it’s bolted-down but I can remove it in about ten minutes if needed:

I stopped traveling with a tool box several years ago. Now I have all my tools packed in tool bags which take-up less space and don’t rattle.

So for everyone that hates what I’ve done , I figured I’d give an update. Nearly a month has passed and the ever dangerous and deadly bungee has held up fine. Keep me in yalls prayers please.

Or the safety of the unfortunate others in the proximity of an impact. - that thing will go flying upon an impact - further if in a rollover at speed.

I do not think anyone here expects the crap bungee to fail magically as the box just sits there as you drive down to the corner store. (In fact - The box would likely just sit there just the same without that 'decorative' bungee.) The issue will arise when something goes wrong... - prayin' or no prayin'

This is the very point that is failing to get through... get through, I say.

(- The above sentence is to be read while impersonating the voice of foghorn-leghorn...)

I find the bungee cord being effective way more believable than the fact that someone would steal all your tools the first time you parked somewhere.

Yea. I have a shell. I lock the windows if I leave the truck anywhere when I’m not close to it.

so what do I do with my tools? Just not wrap it up with anything and let it slide all around back there, leave it to tip over? I’m really not sure on the problem of the damn cord. It’s working just fine. I mean I’m flattered all these people I don’t know are strangely obsessed with my personal safety, but the fact is, people leave stuff in their bed not strapped down all the time. Is there some sort of law that says nothing can be in the bed? It has to be empty at all times?
