I want to install the Bak Flip MX4 on my Tacoma, will lose my rails. I saw in a thread that someone was able to utilize their rails in a fixed position but would like to see some pictures. Can someone help with that.

I don’t have access to the rails with my MX4. In fact, the front rail had to be removed entirely. From what I’ve seen, the 3rd Gen MX4 comes with hardware to lower the side rails so that they’re fully accessible.

Just the rims so far ;)
Thanks for asking. I just got my Dad's old truck and I have the same issue.

I've wondered if it's possible to machine out parts of the Bakflip mounting rails to get to the OEM rail. Then you could have limited access to the OEM rails for hooks and things (but maybe not the OEM cleats).

I'd love to see if anyone comes up with a solution.

I have seen someone with a Bakflip state that they where able to cut/drill out a part of the Bakflip bracket to utilize the tie-downs in a fixed position. Better than nothing. The problem with those brackets in the first place is that they are only good for light weight situations and not something like a motorcycle. I'm putting extra d-rings in the bed at the frame bolts in the bed and on both sides of the bed in front of the tail gate at the metal frame
