Yeah they dont always work with toppers. You could try some washers or spacers so there's clearance between the cans and your shell.

I’d try. But I’m not sure the people here would approve me doing such recklessness

Iv gotta say the oem bedmat stops my floor jack in its plastic case from sliding and the bins i use for grocery grabbin n my emergency kit. Use a cheap cargo bar near end of bed to kerp bins close to tailgate. Have a hard tonneau. Still a small ratchet would be better

3rd gen forum members are little timid. But, if you post in the 2nd gen forum they'll offer to come to your house with cut off tools and welders in hand.

Okay, cool, cool, but when DO you respond well to feedback? You’ll post a thread asking, oh, I dunno, would it be lame if you put TRD stickers on your non-TRD truck? and then when people tell you yes, it would be lame, you spout the same stuff about not caring what people think even though you asked the question to begin with. You’re a grown man giving a monologue to a classroom that’s geared for discussion and support and, uh, heckling.

Posts a thread to show off the comical self tapping screw anchors and bungee cord toolbox mount then gets defensive when some legitimate concerns are pointed out.

You are the perfect member for the 3rd gen forum.

I think the OP's set-up is perfect for a truck which never see's any off-roading and gets driven like an old man. For the rest of us, who drive off-road, in traffic, in the mountains or at shopping malls littered with speed bumps, there are much better (and safer) solutions for those who seek them.

Personally nothing goes in the back of my truck without being secured; it's just an old habit I've picked-up from close to 25 years of off-roading. I have four trucks and I keep a set of old tie downs and a coil of rope in each of them just for the times when I unexpectedly need to haul something in the bed, even if it's just the spare tire for one of my trailers.

Maybe a lot of people have tried just thing you have here, and had really bad results from the poor material chosen to hold the tool box, and are trying to help you avoid the same problems that they may have had in the past. How long have you been driving?

A long time. It’s working for me just fine and it’s been working. I’m not changing anything on it til if/when it breaks.

Handy idea but it you have a panic stop you're gonna want something much more secure than a bungee cord.

I'm being serious, I've been driving for 50 years, I've done a lot of shit behind the wheel, if you don't listen to people trying to help you, your life is going to suck, just saying.

Has no one noticed the fact that OP has a camper shell? Now all you guys crying about it going flying and killing a minivan full of puppies can calm down.

Edit: I see he addressed that on page 2. That’s what I get for jumping ahead.

Absolutely. It's why BMW designed the luggage rack for their Z3s to sit this way and then created a molded suitcase that locks in place.

There’s a difference between trying to help someone, and being an asshole. Yes, there has been several here that has good solid input, and I appreciate them. Others, not so much. And you with all your experiences should know this better than anyone, yea?

The law of averages says that you should be safe with the bungee cord. If for some reason, the law is wrong and you get kilt, can I have that magnetic small parts holder on the lid of your toolbox?
