Well, I just ordered my 3" lift from 4wheelparts. My next purchase is going to be wheels and tires. I'm looking at the BFG Mud Terrain 285/75/16. Is it possible to run this size tire without chopping up the body mount? I assume I will have to get wheel spacers. Any good recommendations?

BTW, I don't do any off roading. I just like the look.

Here is the link for my suspension lift. Any opinions on it?

Misleading product title on their website. That's a spacer lift, which I *guess* you can call a form of suspension lift.

This is why I hate 4WP.

Prepare for a lot of people to tell u that spacer lifts suck, are dangerous, and ride horribly. (like the one u have posted.

I had the same kit on my old 2002, and had no problems. Yes the ride was rough, but it got me lifted for cheap. And for my, and possibly your intended uses, a spacer lift might be just fine.

To avoid rubbing, when you purchase your wheels make sure the back spacing is at 4.5 or less.

Be sure to post pics when it's all finished!

I have heard reviews about the rough ride and the minute I ordered it I am now wondering if I should have got something else. I have a hard time spending lots of money for a lift when I don't go off roading. I just like the look.

So as long as I have a 4.5" backspacing I shouldn't worry about cutting the body?

I didn't mind the ride too bad when I had it. Obviously a coilover lift, or 5100's, eibach coils, or OME coils would give a nicer ride. And u can get into some of those lifts for around 6-800$.

With a backspacing of 4.5 or less u should be okay with no rubbing. U might have to trim some of your mud flap and/or some plastic up front. Kinda depends on the style of your tire too.

i have a similar 3" lift and it rides just fine i really just wanted the look and its great. i got 285/70/17 tires on mine and i had to do a small amount of trimming on the front for turns. i took a dremel and cut a small amount on the plastic and it solved the problem

There are a LOT of people who still have to cut the body mount with 4.5" backspaced rims.

agree that you will get flamed for spacer lifts but really members here are just providing sound advice that you won't hear from vendors for obvious reasons. You are spending xx amount on a nice truck only to go cheap on a lift that could cost you more in front end repairs later and a ride that is a beat down to " cruise" in.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I have decided that once they come in I will be returning them to the store. I would rather save my money and get something better.

I went to Toytec and found these two. Any opinions on either of them?

I know it has been discussed here as I have seen it many times. Which one would provide a smoother ride? Is one better than the other?

    Thanks again for your input.

The OME kit looks good. I didn't want to have to put my life into my hands assembling the coilovers so I bought the ultimate lift from Toytec which I love. But another member on here was installing the OME kit the same time I was at the meet and I couldn't believe how much beefier the OME shocks were than the Bilsteins.

Can't really comment on the first one, though people say a lot of great things about it.

I've got the second one. Great ride, I love it. Remember with this one tho', you'll max out at about 2.5 inches. That's with setting the 5100's to the .85 setting.

sounds like you're headed in the right direction.

min 3" lift will clear those bfg's with minor trimming of plastics and/or mud flaps if you buy wheels with the right back spacing (as mentioned above by other members).

I've got those same tires and run FJ rims. Here is a pic of all I had to trim (some black plastic in the front of the wheel well:

    Hope that helps,
