T case skid

I’m slightly confused on how this works. I see the crossmember, but where does the plate go? The website isn’t showing that very clearly. Anyone have one installed or at least some better pics of the plate?

also, will this work with a trd pro skid ? Not sure if it reaches far enough to make contact with the front skid

 

The cross bar goes at the back and then the transfer case bolts to that and then to the transmission skid plate. Should work with the TRD plate but you'll need the transmission plate in between.

Do you have to have the trans skid? I have the 2.7 and it won’t fit.

 

I would think so otherwise you'd have a gap between the two skids.

 

I know they’re be a gap. Just didn’t know if it was need for this to work.

 

Anyone have a recommendation for one that doesn’t have to be used with a trans skid plate??

 

Why wouldn't you want a trans skid? Seems like you'd get stuck on a rock with only a front skid and a TC skid.

 

I have a 2.7. The RCI I had wasn’t long enough, and no one makes one for the 2.7. I’d have to get it custom fab and I just ain’t going through the hassle. The t case sits lower than the trans anyways.

 

I think @Brian422 had the same problem with his truck when it came to skids. Maybe he can answer.

 

Yea. I’ve spoken with some on here. They had to extend the one for the V6. I just need a t case plate that I can use without a trans plate , if there’s such a thing

 

It would really suck to puncture your transmission pan when offroading!

I used my fron rci one and had 2 custom skids made. Stronger than anything you can buy!

 

You're going to need the trans skid which is the middle one.

Yea I see that now. Because the t case has those stupid slots that slot into the trans plate and then they’re held together. I’m wondering there’s another option or brand

 

Probably not cheaper or better than buying the RCI for $225. But if you really want, you could go all redneck and make one out of plywood.

 

I think the trans plate would be a good idea, so you can slide the whole length of the skids, instead of getting hung up.

 

Do you think 2x8’s would be better than plyboard?

 

If you're really serious about making your own I'd look at 3/16" steel
