Front brake issue solved. It looked like to me the fluid had absorbed moisture. It was a bit milky, lots of air. I flushed and bled them and she's ready for riding season. Now I need to figure out why the check engine light on my wife's Ducati came on when getting it ready this past weekend.

Beautiful day out and that SE Texas humidity is right around the corner! Gotta take full advantage of these days.

Saw a group of older riders out. Nice folks.

Most interesting thing I saw is a guy riding a Grom down the highway. Just made me chuckle. He was no little guy either!

Get out and ride y’all! :bikewheelie:

Thank you sir! She’s come along!
The extended clutch cable was too extended, had to find a way to eat some of the length up.

Good choice on the seat! I’ve enjoyed my step up! Like you I went back and forth and just did it!

First time riding to work since in January and it felt great! Swelling in my left knee is pretty much gone but it's still a little weak in my opinion. Trying to exercise it a little more and hoping it gets better. It usually does. I've been dealing with it for years. Fell while rock climbing as a teenager and tore some stuff up, arthroscopic surgery in my early 20's, and likely some subsequent injuries I never bothered going to the doctor about. Work related stuff, stupidity on my own part, some possibly alcohol related incidents. You know, life.

Seriously talking to the g/f about the Amtrak Auto Train promotion. Thinking possibly late April. The 2 of us with bike in a sleeperette room one way VA to Fl for only $305 is a pretty smoking deal. Leave PA on Saturday around lunchtime and ride to Lorton, VA get on train and get up Sunday morning in Sanford, FL then ride down to Key West.

This just came through in an email but Garmin has the new Zumo XT on sale right now for $399.00. This is what I just bought at $449.00 about 6-8 weeks ago from Amazon.

    Linky:https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/US/p/679804

Motorcycle specific, waterproof, etc. Nice unit and much brighter than the previous models. Unsure how many of you run a GPS like I do but thought perhaps this might help somebody save a few bucks.

Rode the streets for the first time on Sunday. I rode my cousin's wr250r while he rode his new(used) 1200GS. Probably a 20-30 mile loop. Stalled once at a stop sign after I pinched my finger while engaging the clutch and immediately let go too fast, lol. Damn 2 finger MTB habits.

Adjustable levers can help get the distance you need to two finger. I two finger cover my clutch and brake levers.

How'd riding the streets feel? How'd the nerves do?

So now that someone mentioned 2 fingering the levers....what is the “proper” technique for street riding?? I only cover when I’m in traffic if you will, or lots of driveways on either side. I don’t find it comfortable to ride that way.

Also, with my trainer pegs as I call them, if I’m scraping the little oh shit knob all the time, am I going into turns too hot? I don’t ever feel out of control, but I have been scraping a lot more recently.

That's what I do. I don't cover either lever 100% of the time.

That scraping sound just means you're on a Harley. JK, almost any cruiser style bike has somewhat limited cornering clearance. They're threaded on so just remove them and it'll stop.

I only cover the brake and clutch levers when in traffic. On open stretches of road I find it tiring riding that way for long periods.

Incidentally, lever coverage is another reason why I refuse to use short levers. Then again, I don't use one or two fingers to actuate either. Never could get used to it. Usually use all four.

The little nubbies are usually a softer metal that scrapes away instead of digging in. Just enough to let you know you're about at the edge of your turning limits. If you take them off you'll get like half a degree more turning, but you won't have that sacrificial piece of metal there to rub and are going to scrape something harder and more expensive. If you ever need replacements google peg feelers, thats what I've always heard them referred to.

I dug the footpeg on my CB750 into the concrete on a turn once, scared the shit out of me when it caught, bounced my back end up and over, and I almost crashed. Ended up in the opposite lane before I could recover from the wobble, luckily though noone was coming at me.

Fascinating. I cover both 99% of the time, not for safety reasons or anything, its just more comfortable for me and how I've always ridden.

2 fingers on the street and even on the track. Only time i use more was when my hand would get worn out on the track. Still can fit 3 on the asv shorties if necessary.

I only cover if i see someone pulling up to a stoplight/driveway. Even in traffic i dont cover it all the time.
