Got rear ended by some guy in a tundra, wheel is pushed forward into the body and quarter is all torn up, gap in between quarter and trunk now.
Just looking to see if anyone has had similar crashes and if they think the car is going to be repaired or if it’s toast

Sorry to see that, hope you are ok. Depends on the value of the car vs repair cost. If estimate is at or near the value, then usually gets totaled.

I'd say it is totalled. Especially being a sedan.

Key point here is to remember that "totalled" and "not fixable" are 2 different things.

More than likely it's going to be totaled for being an 08 M3. What you need to do is find a 3rd party adjuster to make sure you don't get low balled for it. Start researching competitive vehicles in the same year/miles. Don't be surprised at the slap on the face offer you'll receive. You don't have to accept the offer by any means and that's why you pay to hire an appraiser. Usually will run you $300-$400 but it will be well worth it.

If the wheel is pushed forward like that its very likely the sub-frame is bent, specifically the mounting points for the control arms. It might never drive straight again

I do have a guy I used in the past and he was not short of stellar. Let me find his information and I'll PM you the info as an option. I was quoted $10,750 as a first offer. I declined and submitted all my evidence to seek the market value. The insurance company came back with an offer of around $12,300. I spent already too much time calling and emailing them. I decided to seek an appraiser to get me what I felt was owed.

I hired my appraiser that's out of the West LA area. I paid him around $300-$350 for his services. He researched my vehicle as it was in excellent condition with low miles. I had pictures and records to show that the vehicle was well cared for. I ended up getting a check for a tad over $16k for it. He was able to prove that the cost to purchase the same vehicle in my area was over 17K. So the insurance company haggled the offer down to something over $16k. I felt it was fair and accepted the offer and he told me the next step to try and get 17k would be a long drawn out process.

    Good Luck with everything.

My Honda Accord EX-L Coupe was hit the same way and there were issues with how they could repair it properly. So they just deemed it as totaled for the reasons above as I also pushed for it. I didn't want the car to be repaired to only find issues down the road.

We're on a forum where people chop off cab mounts and relocate shock towers  Anything bent can be pulled back, replaced, guessets welded on, etc. This is a road car, not F1. Suspension geometry doesn't need to be THAT precise when bushings flex 1-2 mm under load.

@Oreo Cat the shop can cut off the rear fender/quarter panel at the C-pillar and weld in replacement pieces sold by BMW. It's an invasive repair that typically requires the rear glass to be cut out and replaced, etc. And the shop could be waiting a long time on parts. Might be better if totaled at this point, especially factoring in the anticipated reliability of a 13 year-old M-car...

As far as reliability goes, I bought it after it’s had its most important preventive maintenance addressed. While it’s not cheap for regular maintenance it’s the only car I’ve owned that I’ve never had to put thousands of dollars into or left me stranded.
I do hope it’s totaled though. Just so I can get another one but with lower miles with no accident history
