I think I've decided to paint or Plasti-dip black. I really like the look. Never was a fan of the chrome. Is there an advantage of Plasti-dip over paint?
    Thanks for all the suggestions.

Derp doesn't seem to chip as easily as paint. I got something on my grille that peeled up the derp locally. I just cleaned the area with alcohol and touched up those spots with the brush-on wire insulation and it looks great. It is the same stuff as the spray on:

I just did this. Found a “free” take off. 2021. Sometimes if you wait it out you can grab one for cheap.... I was in the same boat as you since Iv bought my truck new.... just took this long to do something about it

plasti dip seems to match really well, a big advantage is its removable too.

i plastidipped my chome grill surround and it looks great

might as well dip it and save some money

I think I broke almost every tab on my cheese grater grill when I took it off, but I had no intention of ever putting it back on. I owned an FJ-55 back in the 70's and currently own an FJ Cruiser, and I just like the "Toyota" spelled out on my grill (versus that bloated T symbol). Going to a pro style grill was a no brainer for me.

Somewhat related to the topic of heritage grilles, i wish the tailgate said TOYOTA, the stamped “TACOMA” does not do it for me

Really want the 2020 SR grill. Hoping I can get one. I like the straight ribs across the front.

Bumper aint gonna do a damn bit of good if it doesn't stick out past the grill.

He might be speaking on the aesthetics of the pro grille “bump”
Since the other grilles sit flush with the grille surround, the front bumper valance gives off an underbite vibe.
The pro grille pokes out of the surround.
    Im probably wrong though.

I was considering the Pro Grille but at the time OEM was difficult to come by and I didn't want to deal with sensor issues. I don't mind the chrome in the emblem but got rid of the chrome surround. It wasn't that expensive and it was easy to install.

I do like some of the after market options out there so I might change it but for now this works for me. There are so many different things you can do to make your truck your own and its part of the fun of owning a Taco.
