1st side done. One of these drills goes up to 7/8” which is what 6 of these holes are. It worked great! The 3rd one down from the top is 1”, I had a time with it. I’m also using some really good cutting fluid. This is 1/8" thick stainless.

That is what I was thinking, so far so good though. The whole set was $26 I think.

 

Years ago they tried to do that with us on the old punch cards. Left early and take away.

so one day 11 of the 12 techs left an hour early. One stayed and punched everyone out. Gave him 20 bucks. Boss didn’t do it anymore.

 

At my first job making decals for semis, boats, etc. instead of being a few days out on jobs, we were weeks out. Since my wife worked nights, I offered to try nights, too, to see if I could catch us up.

Working alone from 11pm to 7am severely started messing with my head. I'd check all the doors to make sure they were locked when I got there but you still start hearing things. THe air compressor was my nemesis.

My first night shift my boss had no idea how much I'd be able to get done alone so he scheduled me like he normally would have. I had my entire day finished in 3 hours.

Boss man also had me scheduled only to cut the decals for one of the local news vans and the other guys would install them. I got everything done that I was scheduled to then figured I'd start on the install. I got that finished before everyone got in, too.

I'm pretty sure this is the exact same van I did. The check mark (it's a V from KVLY) going over the vent for the generator, the door that's open and up onto the roof rack on a vehicle with a curved body wasn't terribly fun to do alone but I managed.



I got pretty good at doing Cross Country Courier trucks alone, too. I could drive the tractors in and out but I wasn't about to touch those 53' trailers!

 

As long as you can use them in a Mag Drill drill press or mill they will last a long time with common sense.

Never fails some one chucks them in a hand drill Rocks them side to side and they are finished.

Never did figure out if they can be sharpened after they are ruined.

 

I'm having to use these in a hand drill, box is too big to put in the machine.

 

We use carbide cutters for most everything we can’t knock out, step drills work but they throw a lot of chips into a panel, which is bad if it’s live. Most of the chips stay out of the enclosure with a carbide cutter.

 

That is a cool bit! We don't do many of these boxes, this is the first one I've had to drill the holes. I've cut several doors for the screens over the years though.

 

Let’s see if we can finish this.

 

They are real handy if you have to cut a lot of holes or in thick material, but pretty expensive. I have a 2-1/2” one left over from a job years ago, it was a little over $100 if I remember correctly

We've got a rotating schedule at my place currently. Week 1 we do four 12's followed by an 8 for maintenance. Week 2 we do five 12's followed by an 8 for maintenance. Repeat into infinity it seems. Normal schedule is supposed to the the four 12's and an 8. My shift is 3:00 pm to 3:00 am, and on the 8 hour day we'll get out at 3 am and go back in by 10 am to do the maintenance.
