What bumper do you recommend? I’m doing mild off roading. Driving down atv trails, looking for creeks. However, I don’t want anything to heavy for my everyday driver 3rd gen Tacoma.

    thanks

Depends what you're needed. Just a slimline to mount a winch in case you get stuck? Or a full on bumper. Southern style off road does a really nice slimline bumper for a tab bit of protection but it's main purpose is allowing a winch to be mointed. Then there is a full size bumper to allow more clearance andoint a winch and there is a large variety of companies that make those and really you just need to research eachs brands subtle details from bumper to bumper to find which look you like best. I don't remember off the top of my head any that make an aluminum bumper. Just about every will have lead times for these items but most do very quality work. I highly recommend brute force fab for bumpers and sliders. Billy is a super nice guy and pumps out quality work. I've got his front bumper, Weld on/bolt on slider, and just put an order in for a rear high clearance bumper. Last two pictures are of my personal vehicle.

I don't recommend any bumper because with what you listed as what you'll be doing you don't need a big bumper.

^^^ what he said. If weight is your biggest concern then no bumper will work for ya. That slimline by southern style is gonna the least weight be even adding that and a winch you're looking at about 150 pounds extra up front.

You have the whole truck wrapped or coated in bedliner yet? All the body panels will take a beating from brush and tree branches on ATV-sized trails.

Unless you go aluminum and synthetic line. I'm at less than 90 pounds with this set up.

Just dropping it here for anyone looking in the future and manages to find the search function ;)
I've recently paired up with Coastal Offroad to offer their ready to weld, high clearance bumper kits as a finished product here in Ontario.

I'm a huge fan of keeping money north of the border, so happy to support another Canadian company while offering another option in Ontario.

Will have the first kit ordered soon for my personal truck (not a Tacoma) and possibly an extra kit or two for Tacoma's.
Final pricing will be finalized after I assemble the first set.

If you want to check out what they have, here's a link you can check out.
Obviously, the prices on their site is the kit only without shipping/welding.

not sure how i missed this thread, here is my two cents.

I Run the SSO Slimline. The Hybrid bumper is heavy as sin and you do truely feel it when you drive. but it's built really well. The hoop on it bugs me as i can't take the nose-cone off without taking the bumper off. But it's good if you do intend for high-clearance if you plan to upgrade to that later.

if you're doing mild stuff, WARN makes a similar low-profile style bumper that requires a lot less cutting of the body and i believe is a lot lighter.

everyone under the sun makes a low-profile bumper so you can look around for other kinds.

Another alternative if you want just the winch but no full bumper, there is this; https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/product-comparison-hidden-winch-mounts.537813/
    but i would also recommend getting yourself some recovery points, something along this line;

Been holding off mostly as my new shop space fell through.
Back on the hunt for some decent commercial space. :fingerscrossed:
