I just carry the basics (pliers, screw drivers, metric wrench set, tie wraps, etc), but I recently added an OBD code reader to my onboard tool kit. I left my gas cap loose not long ago and threw the stupid evap code. Not a big deal except it completely disabled my cruise control with the active code. I had to wait until I got home (several hour drive on the freeway) to clear the code. Had I had my code reader with me, I could have pulled over and cleared it and got my cruise control back for the ride home.
