At my previous oil change, I picked up a fumoto (F103). It wouldn't thread in the pan, I felt like it would cross-thread if I kept going. A couple of turns and then tightness. I went to the auto parts store and got another standard bolt for my pan, and it threaded in just fine. I called Fumoto, they said it should thread just fine unless at some point someone re-threaded or put an aftermarket pan in.

I put the old drain bolt back in and did nothing, until the next oil change. I got another fumoto plug, this time a F133, thinking maybe something was wrong with the prior fumoto valve.

Same thing. it feels like its going to cross-thread/strip if I keep turning it.

The two standard oil pan bolts, and both fumoto valves I have all thread onto the same m12 x1.25 nut just fine.

    What gives?

Save yourself a LOT of trouble and ditch the valve garbage.Use your factory bolt, better than any Fumoto valve.

I would agree since, so far, I cannot get one to thread onto my pan! But if I could I would love the ability to flip a lever to let the oil flow. Why do you say it is garbage? Are they known to leak or something?

The valves save you no time at all, since they take longer too drain, I dont know about you,but I am not trusting a cheap $30 valve on my $12,000.00 engine

Yeah I guess there would be a smaller hole for the oil to spew out of

So what is the point then ?, it takes all of 20 seconds too take the factory bolt out.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I thought it was the bees knees until I knocked mine loose on a logging trail. Didn't trust it after that. Went back to the factory bolt.

Saves me a bunch of time. I don't have to pull off my Pelfrey skid plate to do a oil change. Reach up and let her rip. Have a little tube attached so it doesn't get all over. Has worked for 3 years flawless.

I have the valve. Super convenient. Can change oil with no mess and discretely anywhere.

I got a low profile femco, havent used it yet, I like the tube that I can drain directly into a Mobil 1 jug as apposed to a drain pan. Back in the day I had the fram sure drain and loved them.

I had a similar problem with the f133 on my gx470 recently. It started threading in just fine in fact made it 1/4 of the way in then got difficult to turn. Not sure wtf the deal was. Anyway. Figured well shit, just gave it some turns with a wrench until the gasket was snug and let it be. No leaks now 2 weeks later. No idea why it gave me trouble threading. It’s listed as a part for my vehicle.

I haven’t seen this widely reported either. I did see one post on a separate forum mentioning. Funny thing is you’ll see these things clocked all sorts of ways on the same vehicle model which tells me people really vary how tight they get it.

No haven’t yet. Just changed oil ~2wks ago. The fumuto still remains in place installed. No current issues with it. My problem was I threaded it in then hit a lot of resistance so my line of thought was well if it’s cross threading then I mineswell keep going since the goal is to not remove this thing anyway.

just seemed odd to be it was threading in a good ways just fine then got more difficult, almost like it had a slight taper or something.
