Interesting. I thought I’d go with the 886 for when I add bumper and winch. But I guess I can move down to a softer spring eh.

I have no armour on the front and I’ll discuss with my local vendor.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it.

You will get differing opinions, but it depends on your use. You will likely wear out or break something sooner than you would have if you didn't install that type of lift, and it's definitely a budget way to lift.
If i'm understanding, you installed 1-1/2" thick spacers above your front shock top hat for a 3" lift (2:1 ratio), right?
If so, you spaced the whole shock assembly down 1-1/2", so your upper control arm can now drop down too far, possibly hitting/rubbing on the coil spring.

Your 2" rear block may give you axle wrap.

Sorry, I didn't read back far enough to know you were adding a plate bumper & winch. 886 might be exactly what you need. Good call on talking to the vendor. @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc and @HeadStrong Off-Road, among others, are here on the forum and deal with a lot of Tacoma questions.

Thank you much! That's what I figured, guess I better let the nest egg build up a little bit more before I start tearing into this thing.

Truck has 250,000 km on it. I'm putting another 50,000-100,000 (3-4 years) is it really worth lifting it? Thinking of just a leveling kit for it's remaining time.

I am thinking of upgrading my rear springs to stage 2 or 3 deaver, Alcan custom made, or dakars to help with my canopy, lumber rack, and daily tools....which add up to around 4-500 pounds. Sometimes i have more than that (table saw, chop saw, etc) It is a 2021 Tacoma so the leafs are new, but id rather not mess around with an AAL..as i have heard they are not really made for loads. If I went with the new leaves that give 2 or so inches of lift....would i need to lift the front?

I just wanted to levelled my truck with 6112 (1000$CAD) but my Lower control arm cam bolts were seized (supposedly 80% likely here in Calgary according to alignment shop). So now I need new LCA and cam bolts (OEM 1400$ CAD) IF I want my alignment to be perfect again. Other option would be to hack it together and ignore the seized cam adjusters and buy a SPC UCA and try and align from the top (they would have given me enough room to get back into spec with my 2” lift) SPC UCA’s cost 700$CAD and they would work in my case.

But it’s kinda just side stepping the issue.

Then the driveline vibes came from my needle bearing between 50-60kmh... despite my 2” lift (possibly my worn hub bearing might be antagonizing factor)

I had to buy LCA+cam bolts for 1400$ CAD and because I wanted my alignment PERFECT I went with JBA UCA for another 650$ CAD. Also the driveline vibe is another 200$ CAD to fix with ECGS bushing. And finally I didn’t want any bad vibes so I bought new hubs from 05Taco4x4 for 400$.

    TL:DR
SOOOOO 2250$ + 1000$ + 400$ = 3650$ to lift your front end 2” on an older (2014) rusted truck if you want to do it right. Or 200$ for some spacer blocks on your springs and say fuck it!

Hey everyone, just wanting a solid all-rounder suspension kit for my 2007 Tacoma for the weekend and occasional week-long trips doing Beginner to Light Intermediate off-roading to get to certain dispersed campsites. No crazy rock climbing stuff, just wanting a reliable suspension system that I can reassure to get me home in the backcountry. Also, financially conscience as well if possible but understand it's gonna cost somewhere in the thousands. Recommendations? Thank you!

I had to deal with the same situation with my 6112s. Cam bolts were seized and also needed lower control arms bushings. I got the front end looked at and there was a lot of rusted bolts and such. 2010 130k miles in new England.

Ended up replacing. LCA, cam bolts, inner/outer tie rods and also ordered all of the oem nuts/bolts to replace the rusted ones. Told the shop to torch them if needed to get them out. Lots to replace it all at once but with everything disconnected anyways,. I figured just get it done once so that I don't have to chase my tail with vibrations or parts wearing faster.

Best choice I could have made. The front end feels completely brand new and handles amazing.

Hi Everyone, I just put the Eibach stage 2 Coil overs in the front and the back shocks to my 17 TRD Off Road 4x4. I want to add an 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch to the back should I go with a 1 inch to 1 1/2 block or do a AAL? I don't do much off road and if I do its nothing crazy. I would just go with AAL but I don't haul anything other than my dog so don't want it to stiff. Any feed back from your experience?

Anyone have any thoughts on the TRD lift? The ‘22 SW SR5 is going to be here next week and have been looking around. I want an actual lift kit and the ability to put some bigger tires on (albeit not huge). It’ll be my daily driver but also my duck and turkey hunting rig, which means mostly fire roads and dirt roads. Won’t be pulling a boat either.

    Question for this thread:

Initially wanted to change out the wheel/tire setup on my '19 TRD Sport but after further research I am now leaning towards first upgrading the stock suspension.

For context, I intend to do light/medium off-roading in the PNW, probably to and back from camping sites or just exploring trails every now and then. Mainly going to be using the truck as a daily driver for work so majority of driving will be done on pavement. I always keep my military gear in the bed of the truck with a topper and might eventually look into getting a camper shell.

I've been looking at the 5100's and had read that they're decent... although I'm now leaning more towards the OME 2-3'' lift kit to include the 2888 coils in the front, OME 90021's, the Dakar leaf pack, a front differential drop kit, OME UCA, and extended brake lines. My justification for going this route is that I'd rather try to do it "right" the first time and try to save money on down the line (future proofing?). Said parts are sitting in my cart right now for roughly $2.3k. My ultimate end goal is being able to fit beefier tires onto the truck and gaining more clearance to better handle the stuff I'm looking to throw at it.ome.jpg

Okay, so I am kind of stuck here.

I have a 2021 OR. I have a Body Armor steel winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch and TRD skid plate. Truck has 16" Pro wheels and KO2's. I want to sort out the suspension before I install the winch and bumper this spring. I want to lift it about an inch or two and level the truck. I do not do any serious off roading, no rock crawling, just trails and some rough terrain camping.

I have been looking at Bilstein 6112's and 886 springs, along with 5160's out back and an AAL kit.

If my research has been accurate, this "should" net me the desired outcome if I set the fronts at 4/3. The 886 springs should compensate for the additional weight (about 180 pounds) of the bumper and winch.

Am I doing it right? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

When I had my 2013 I only had a slimline bumper and winch so you'll have more weight. But I found the 886 coils gave a pretty harsh ride. Especially when combined with E rated KO2s. Switching to Falkens softened it a little. Maybe look at 888 coils? Slightly more height than the 886 but a lighter spring rate. So that offset may net the same result.
