I ended up going cheap with that exact NAS. I have no complaints. I did choose to go with Seagate IronWolf drives though since their drives seem to get better long term reviews that WDs low or mid spec Reds.

Figured the #1 seller NAS on Amazon couldn't be too bad..
Good to know someone has experience with it though. Looks like I'll be picking one up shortly.
Was going to use some old parts and FreeNAS but I don't want the hassle.
As far as drives, I usually default to WD cause I've always used WD Black for everything else. :notsure: I'll look into the IronWolf though.

Looks like the gooberment is stimulating my media server this time around.. :)

The speed is pretty basic but I gave up on a faster NAS for remote editing when I started looking into reviews. You simply can't get much better performance without jumping up to faster networking because of the overhead on the home network side. This one is good for warm storage. Music, videos, backups, and anything else that's okay with IRL speeds around 100 MB/s

    Specs:
-Lian Li Dynamic Mini w/ vertical GPU mount
    -Asrock z490pro
    -Intel 10600k

Pretty much in the same boat. I got a cheap EVGA White 450, h97 itx, 8 GB RAM, and an i5 4670k. Trying to find a cheap bench to put it all in.

I have a 1950X lying around but didn't want to take the time to build it right. These NAS boxes take 10 watts of power and are crazy simple to setup.

I feel like this should be hammering the storage space (transferring backup from external HDD to storage space plus downloading MSFS to the storage space) but D: drive isn't showing 100% active time in task manager, is that an accurate way to gauge saturation? The ethernet adapter has been a steady 116-119 Mbps download, I think it downloaded faster than that last time I downloaded it.

Yeah, ended up getting the Cooler Master N400 case, a couple 6TB IronWolf drives, and a couple of Sandisk USB to boot from.
Going to try and set up FreeNAS and see how that goes.
Everything should get here on Friday..

Intel also just dropped the 11th gen pricing and it’s way under AMD at each segment. That being said I’d guess AMD has room to move price as well.

I need this case to get here...
Bastards at Amazon were supposed to deliver everything yesterday but instead they delivered the drives Thursday and the case says its coming today.

Just want to get it set up... The more I read about it, the more conflicted I get.

    Conflicted about what?
