I just had two bars on each light go out on mine, MESO sent a replacement light with a better connection and plug in. Vast improvement over the original design and works great!

That is what concerns me as well. Why would it blow in the first place is what I keep asking myself. The dome lights in particular were a real pain in the ass to put in. The contacts don’t seem to fit or sit real well in the space they’re supposed to occupy. I’m wondering if it might have shorted somehow.

One major improvement would be to stock them!

Had an issue with dead or flickering . Contacted Meso and he stepped up and sent new ones.

Ok, so today on my way back from Moab, I noticed they are out again. Something is definitely not right...

Are you getting/making any more dual map lights for the second gen Tacomas?

@MESO - So today I switched it out and put a new fuse in, and an hour later it was blown again. Any ideas? I took out the map lights and all looks normal. No breaks or cuts on the wires. Connections look like they should. Couldn’t get to the dome light today. I’ll check that tomorrow.

Well, I figured out the problem at least. As suspected, the culprit is the dome light contact piece that looks like the old bulb. It’s just way too large to fit in the housing. You can’t compress it enough to fit in there. It’s just simply to large. I just watched a bunch of install vids on YouTube and all of those seem to just click in perfectly. Mine never did that and I actually had to wedge it in to where it was bowed over just to get it to work. Apparently it was making contact with the top of the housing and shorting out. You can see what I’m talking about in the pics.

My solution was to disconnect it and put it back without the contacts in the housing. Now I won’t have a dome light but at least there won’t be an ugly, empty hole here and I still have map lights; plus I’m sick of changing out fuses anyway.

Haven’t heard anything back from @MESO . I don’t know if the new ones are different. This one is one of the older style without the dimming feature. I’ll just buy a new one if the contacts fit properly?

I even tried that and it still wouldn’t go. Honestly, I wouldn’t be able to get back in there now even if I wanted to.

I'm working with MESO now on almost the same issue, I installed the replacement LED's and now my overhead console function buttons (Moon roof, A-trac) only turn the lights on when pressed and don't control the moon roof or anything, just the light. Anyone run into this?

Fixed. the ground on the overhead panel acts like a fuse adn if you arc to ground putting in LED's it burns it up like a fuse. Sent it back to MESO, repaired and sent home and working fine. $20 in shipping and stuff.
