Best is a pretty broad question. Some people consider best to be the chepest thing they can find. Or oem equivalent. Or the greatest updgrade big brake setup money can buy.

I haven't done brakes on my taco yet. What I've read, they last a long time. I have pulled the drums to inspect and checked the rotors & pads up front.

I had a girlfriend who's brother setup their grandmother's brakes so you barely touch the pedal and it was like slamming hard on it. I don't know what he did, maybe a different booster or something. It was really difficult for me to drive it like that. You after something like that?

In my supra, I did brembo cross drilled rotors & repco metal master pads, I think bought out by axxis or hawk. That setup was good, always found myself stopping short.

Let us know what you want, you'll get plenty of friendly replies, and maybe a few not so friendly. Some will insist best is what wally world sells. If you search for it, you'll find plenty of big brake upgrade options.

    Welcome to the forum.

I've always had good luck with Centric rotors. Just recently put some Akebono pads on as well.

I put Powerstops from Rockauto on mine a few months back. I don't know that they feel better but they feel good. I have a TRD Off Road so my brakes are good anyways.

You can get OEM Toyota rotors and pads on Amazon for the cost of most of those kits.

I had an unfavorable experience with Amazon brake parts. Bought “new” calipers, received rebuilt. The new rotors were so badly warped that they couldn’t be cut straight, had to get another new set.

I slapped some Akebono ceramics on a while back. Pretty smooth braking.

All depends on how you gauge best.

I got 90k out of original pads/rotors. The set from RockAuto lasted me about 65k, but I smoked them coming down a pass in Wyoming and warped the rotors. Pads had some life left, but got tired of the shaking steering wheel each time I hit the brakes.
On to the next set. Expecting 75k out of these if I don't boil them again

If you have the OEM rotors, they are usually good for another 50K after resurfacing. The shop will measure them first to see if they have enough material to resurface. Then get good quality pads. There are too many good options to point one out for you. I have Wagner ThermoQuiet pads on most of my cars. They are not considered a performance pad, but they are the best for my vehicles and our conservative driving styles - they don't dust much, easy to install and no squealing, and very affordable.
