Alright so I bought my 2010 Tacoma used 2 years ago, and this weekend I decided to dive into why my fog lights aren’t working. I opened up the dash and pulled out the switch to find that the wires had been cut to the switch and we’re hanging freely. I bought a new fog light kit and used the existing wires to tie into the new switch. I got it wired up and working, but now my 10a tail light fuse blows whenever I turn the lights on. So I’ve replaced the fuse and unhooked the fog light wires. I’m looking for any suggestions to get my fog lights working without blowing the tail light fuse!

Sounds like a short to ground in the fog light circuit.

The tail fuse supplies power to the switch illumination lights, so you have something going to ground in the switch illumination.

For info, the OEM switch provides a ground to activate the fog light relay and the aftermarket stuff supplies positive power to activate the relay. The 2 can’t be interchanged. You must have all OEM switch, wiring, and relay, or all aftermarket components.

Yep, it was a faulty ground wire. Replaced that and all is well! Thanks guys.
