    Fellas,

First post for a long time stalker.

I tried to search for SR specific tire upgrades and keep pulling up info that all over the place.

My lease is finally coming up and I’m gonna keep my taco. Just wanting to upgrade from the steely’s to a A/T type tire.

Do I need to stick with 16’s?

    Can I roll with a 265/70 16 or 17?

    TIA!

You ca run any tire that any other prerunner 4x2 or 4x4 can run. You can look for 2016+ rims so the tire sensors are compatible as well.

The tires sensors from the oem steel wheels are different than the ones used on the alloys. I wouldn't let that hold you back as you can find the appropriate sensors for ~$125. Or you can just ignore the TPMS message on the dash like some of us.

You could monitor Craiglist, FB Marketplace and/or this website for a set of SR5, Offroad or Sport alloys.

The stock steel wheels on the sr are 16x7 and as long as you get the same size alloys like I did, you can go with 265/70r16 like I did or 265/75r16. If you get 17 in wheels, try to get 17x7 to be safe and 265/70r17 should fit. Be aware that 285 might not fit or will but might rub without lifting the front end. Also you need new tire sensors for alloys, steel tire sensors are not compatible. You should save time and money and get new wheels, tires, and sensors at once from a reputable shop. I did mine one at a time.

^ This. You can fit 16s or 17s. Up to you. If you leave your wheels at 16 you can go up a few tire sizes from the stock 245s on the SR to 265 75 16. If you bump up your wheel size to 17s then leave your tire size at 265 70 17.

If you are going to stick with Toyota wheels, the trd or wheels are 16x7 I believe and should fit fine. The 4Runner wheels are 17x7 and look nice also. There are lots of people on OfferUp that are selling their wheels for cheap. I found a set of 2010 fj cruiser wheels in great shape and bought all 5 and made one my spare.

I just put these 17” 4runners on my SR last Friday and they swapped the sensors over from the SR steelies to the Runners. Tires are 275/70/17 Wildpeaks. Steelies still in the bed.

I've got 22k on a set of Kumho Road Venture AT51's.

Got them for $107/ea. on a Discount Tire price match and because they had good snow reviews.

Been out playing in the 2+ feet we got yesterday and never got stuck - they won't climb 4' drifts, but what will?

    Worth considering....

Definitely leaning towards getting some gray 4Runner TRDs. They are take offs with 265/70 17’s for $1250.

    thanks for all the replies!
