Does this ball mount still swivel after you modified it? I like it, but I can't really do the magnet style because of my case.

I had this for a while until it broke recently. I liked it because it was secure and could rotate 360 degrees, but glare was an issue because I couldn't tilt it.

It does swivel although I rarely ever adjust it.

Don’t know what case you have but I put both metal plates behind mine and it hold strong. Washboard, wheeling, etc...it doesn’t budge.

I loathe the X-grip for the simple reason you need two hands to operate it, I use the RAM spring loaded for my bike. also jut bought an XL version for my Note10

I beg to differ, my RAM suction cup always fell off. I tried cleaning wetting, whatever and after a couple of days I would come out to find it laying on the floor :\

I had this for a bit but it bounces too much for my liking, most mounts I've had were not that great with keeping my phone "still"

I did not like using the grab handle location, even with the "shorty" RAM arm I still occasionally hit the phone while turning the wheel

I currently use this one and have it attached under the top of the center vent piece

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0819DT4J1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8

I'll have to find a pic but it's high enough to see but now not in view of the windshield. Also it keeps mostly "still" with very little shake

Drop a picture of it I’d like to see. I might consider it if these suction cup ones don’t work well.

Okay if u have a phone case this is a great product
It’s called magic mount, i bought it at target for 25 bucks, its in Amazon for $20

put the supplied magnet in your phone case and it stick it to the holder, holder sticks on the dash with 3m adhesive
Has only fallen off from from washboard vibes, its a pretty strong magnet https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01DBAVHH0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_359B017AA0VBCHTDW8T1?_encoding=UTF8

I tried using those, but it blocks the wireless charging for my Samsung (all versions I've had). I know, I'm Bougie :)

Do you suggest anything other than that? And are you sure it fits in the first gen air vents?

I don't have a cell phone holder in my '96 but the Weather Tech cup holder type works GREAT in my 3rd Gen for anyone who has a 3rd GEN.

1 of the 2 that I recently bought. Seems to have a pretty good hold on the dash and phone hasn’t fallen off yet on rough roads but does bounce a bit though. I like how this one looks though as far as not having a too bulky design to it.

Once/if that one fails anytime soon I’ll install this other one I bought. If not I’ll probably just give this one to my gf.

Thinking about just installing this one too and seeing how they both work side by side.

I had one exactly like this. maybe it's my truck but most of the "long-arm" mounts have considerable "bounce" while driving. hence why I've bought about a dozen different ones to try.

I think it's just the ride of the truck now, not cush like newer ones :D

    see post #46 https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cell-phone-holders.711173/page-3#post-25346823

the "hook" is attached behind the black center bezel. I tried through the vent but it was too low, our vents done hold anymore so it was on the bottom of the vent portion. So I decided to remove, hook, and replace the center bezel. which is held on with screws at the A/C controls so it has support to keep from just popping off
