    Hello!

I taught a friend how to drive a manual transmission on my 18 Off Road yesterday. He wasn't quick to pick it up and tried starting in 3rd gear a few times before I could catch the mistake.

I turned it on this morning (it was ~15F outside) and the pedal was very stiff and sticky. It got less stiff as it warmed up but still feels more sticky than usual. It is driving well and the clutch isn't slipping.

Anyone have any ideas what could be going on? My first thoughts is that he could have bent something in the clutch pedal mechanism or that this is just a coincidence and the clutch fluid needs to be replaced.

Sounds pretty common. On cold mornings the clutch pedals are usually slow to move. It’ll loosen up as the truck warms up.

if he burned the hell out of the clutch, could have cooked and overheated the pressure plate fingers causing their tension to rise. Happened when my dad loaned his old dump truck out to a friend that didn't know how to drive stick. That's why I never let anyone drive my vehicles except for me LOL

If you didn't smell burning friction material, it's VERY unlikely that there was any noticeable damage done. A few starts / stalls in the wrong gear are nothing to lose sleep over. Agree that the weather was most likely the culprit.
