‘21 with new level kit concern

Just just bought TRD sport and has less than 700 miles on it… Installed 2.5 inch level kit and fuel wheels and when I picked it up from the shop the front of the truck sits higher than the back. They advised I need to drive it a couple hundred miles for it to settle?? Then he said he would add a 1 inch block if it didn’t change. Does this sound correct?? This is my first time with a level kit?

 

Yes. You had them raise the front. The front now sits higher. Even money says you will have to lift the back.

 

It sounds ridiculous. You jacked the front up 2.5". Of course you'll have to raise the back. I'd do a 1.5 add a leaf over a block.

 

It's always good to know what you are doing before you do it.

 

Let it settle, it will some. You say a level kit? It didn't include some parts for the rear suspension?

 

What are you calling a leveling kit ? Spacers, springs, struts with clips, adjustable coilovers or non-adjustable coilovers ?

 

An unloaded, new, Tacoma Sport sits about 1” higher in the rear than the front. This is the “factory rake” and is there so the truck rides somewhat level when there is a load in the bed.

A “leveling kit” usually implies adding 1” of lift to the front , so the truck sits level, unloaded. This is done for appearances for fellas who don’t plan on using the truck for much hauling. If they added 2.5” of lift to the front, you are going to be 1.5” higher in front than in back when all is said and done.

When you were asked to wait to let things settle, that is correct. It does take time if new springs were added to the front to let them break in and sag to their natural height. That advice should be followed.

What seems weird to me is what final result your are going to achieve, if it is truly 2.5” of lift added to the front only and nothing to the back?

How many inches center hub to fender for front and rear?

I have a 1.5" rear block and I'm still 1" lower in the back.

25" front, 24" rear. Fairly same on driver and passenger.

2" to 1" is the "proper level" if you want a lift, level, and no rake. if you added 2.5" up front, you will be low in the back by an inch and a half, if you dont match the rear lift ratio of 2 to 1. if you want level and no lift, add a 1" lift to the front. Ski

Way too much up front to level it. I did 2.5 upfront and did an AAL plus a 1 inch block in the rear and I have a little bit of rake.
How did you achieve the lift up front?

 

I love how the OP comes in and makes a statement with minimal info and everyone asks for all the info that should have been provided and then makes assumptions based on the lack of info lol

I had a 2 inch lift installed in the front last week and it’s almost level now. I had some rake because the rear shock for whatever reason lifted the truck by half an inch and now it’s back to normal. Kinda bizarre but it’s all normal now (before lift I was 2 inches shorter in the front). Fox 2.0 Performance Coilovers in the front and Fox 2.0 performance Shocks in the rear.




300 miles later and everything has settled. Now sits around 1.5 inches in front and 0 in rear. The front is about .5 inches lower. I had an unusual amount of rake prior to the installation

 

Yes,you did. My rake is half an inch front to back. Its hardly noticeable

 

my rake wasn't noticeable before I installed my wheels and tires lol. It was a night and day difference coming out of the tire shop last month

 

that shouldn't change your rake at all unless they messed something up

 

I had larger tires installed, therefore it took up more space in the wheel well
