I got a beef bout my taco and, anyway here goes. I enjoy it, needed nothing thru these past 5 yrs. except for frt brake replacement.anyway, it started getting very sluggish on the start ups so dropped a new battery in her, all is fine now. But, why in the heck didn't my dash put up an alert sayin the battery was gettin low? It alerts me on everything else, fob batt. gors low, it tells ya. Thanx for any info. Maybe it was right in frt of me and didn't pick up on it. Lucky i still got hearin, told me somethin was up

I’ve never seen a vehicle that give an alert of a pending battery failure. Anyone? BMW? Volvo?:notsure::popcorn:

You are lucky the battery was giving you a warning by it acting sluggish to start, sometimes they fail suddenly.

Seems like the truck did warn you? What would an idiot light be able to tell you that the truck already didn't?

I also have a 2016 Taco and had to replace the OEM battery today. As per the OP, it gave some warning by being sluggish. After numerous stops, each start scarier than the previous, I took it to the garage where it would no longer start. Guess I got every mile out of that battery.

The replacement battery sold by NAPA is rated at 550 cold cranking amps and 650 cranking amps. Any thoughts on whether this is a good strength battery for this truck (V6)? It is a work truck and often in the back country far from town. Thanks for any wisdom on this.

Truck has been very good btw; none of the frequently-mentioned issues have arisen.
