Has anyone gotten a Westcott lift installed on their Pro in BC? I'm looking into getting one, but I would like to go somewhere that has experience with Pros.

Oh, not swapping it out, just putting a little extra room to put 285s on.

I live in Northern, BC... about 10 hrs north of Prince George. But I'll be travelling to the Island for work, and hopefully next summer I'll be able to travel some more for pleasure. So basically, anywhere haha.

Sportsman Light Truck in Kamloops is really good, as well as Baja North in Kamloops. I mainly go to Sportsman, they have worked on lots of Tacomas.

Never understood paying a premium for ‘pro’ parts in the first place only to replace parts later. Get a damn off road and save yourself buying price inflated parts if you’re just gonna lift anyways.

Why buy any truck if you're just gonna mod it. :notsure: Westcott kit adds parts, doesn't replace them.

Because apart from the fox’s on the pro’s, Tacoma stock suspension is shit. You find this out quickly if you tow, haul and off road the truck consistently for a few years.

you want to fit 285’s on your pro, but your fox pro suspension isn’t adjustable. So if you aren’t going to swap it out, which would be a damn shame in the first place, what is westcott going to do for you? Stick some
Spacers in the front and an aal?

I'm not technical enough to tell you what it is, other then it says it isn't a spacer lift. Westcott offers a block for the back, but I would probably go with AAL.

But really, everyone buys an OR and then goes and buys the Pro grill, etc. I can afford a Pro, I wanted a Pro interior, and now I want to make it my truck, just like you want to make your OR your truck.

Hey, I get it. I’m not gonna sit here and say I haven’t modded mine, I’ve swapped out my entire suspension lol. I’m just saying you have a beautiful suspension in your truck that came stock. It doesn’t give you a lift, and it won’t allow you to fit 33’s, but it’s very well tuned and capable to barrel down logging roads at 60km and have a blast with off road. And if someone is telling you they are going to be able to lift that suspension so you can fit bigger tires, well the only way that is possible is by either spacing it in the front or swapping out the coils, which really in turn bastardizes it and can have negative long term affects (the spacers that is). If you replaced the coils well then that well tuned coil and strut combo isn’t so well tuned anymore.

If you’re dead set on 33’s, then consider swapping the whole thing apart from leafs (get an aal like you said) and go with a moderately priced, suitable but adjustable replacement (I would suggest bilstein 6112/5160). You could sell your pro suspension easily on here and would probably almost recoup enough to cover say, 70% of the cost for the adjustable one.

33’s are ultimately going to cost you
more than just the westcott lift anyways. You’ll need to either get rid of those pro rims or get spacers for them so you don’t rub. You will probably need a CMC and you may need uca’s, $900 minimum for those. All I’m saying is it all adds up anyways so might as well do it functionally right first and get the aesthetics you want as well.

These 265/75/16 cooper st maxx I run measure a true 32”, most 285’s will come out to be 32.8”. That .8” requires so much more sacrifice, and the only thing you’re really getting out of it is .8” more clearance... which you only need if you actually wheel your truck. I would say every other aspect of going 285 is negative apart from aesthetics lol.

Anyways, not trying to give you a hard time really just trying to offer you some sound, non bias advice. My neighbor lifted his truck the wrong way to fit 285’s because he didn’t understand the technicalities, and the long term affects of doing it the wrong way. In the end his rear shocks are pissing oil, he needs to invest in uca’s for a damn spacer lift, his leafs are shot by hauling and towing with a 2 inch block in the back, and that truck of his that looks so cool performs like a crippled old man.

these are the 265/75’s on mine. Granted I have about 2inch lift in the back you don’t need any lift to clear them, and I think they fill the wheel well pretty nicely.

    Good luck with it all

285s will look great on it, and it's not hard to do if you work with a good shop or have handy friends.
I just put my 265 winter tires back on and the kids think it looks funny and not in a good way.

Just did a read up on this westcott pro ‘lift kit’...
    233B46F5-D25D-41BF-88D8-BC725CE114EC.jpg
“The preload collar at the bottom of the spring acts like a coil-over without the ability to adjust the height. In my discussions with Jeff Westcott, the owner, he shared the details about why this is not your typical spacer lift.

A spacer sits on top of the strut, putting all the added stress at the top of the assembly. According to many forums and several conversations I’ve had, a spacer lift could lead to future damage to your Tacoma. The Wescott Designs kit incorporates an aluminum collar that seats perfectly on your strut assembly, giving your front suspension a boost. For the rear, there’s a simple lift block for the leaf springs.”

But it IS a spacer lift... lol. Whenever you see the word ‘preload’ involved in your suspension you know that component is going to be limiting the travel of your strut or compression of your coil, or both. And after the article clearly states ‘a spacer sits on top of the strut, putting all the added stress on the assembly’, one of the four components in the kit is ‘Anodized aluminum 0.5” shims for the top of the struts’. Shims are spacers lol.

Westcott is trying to say their Spacer lift kit doesn’t have any negative impact because the main 1.5” Spacer is going on the bottom of the coil as opposed to the top, and a smaller .5” spacer is going on the top of the strut.

    Revolutionary...

I have 5100s on the front with Eibach coils, my rears leaked, replaced with 5160s - my buddy has run a spacer lift since 2014 and he is still on the original Toyota shocks.
The Wescott kit lifts from the bottom of the coil like the collar on a 6112 does and it includes the front bump stop spacers, OP will be fine running it.

We've installed 2 of them now, one on a tundra and one on a tacoma.

They install pretty fine as long as there isn't much corrosion on the shock bodies. They do the job! We would be happy to help you with your install if you need! We specialize in Toyotas. shoot me a message! We are in Cloverdale BC, so pretty close to being on the way to the ferry on the island.

I actually grew up on Haida Gwaii. Not as north as you, but I spent my time working in the oilfields around Fort St. John when I was younger!

Did you end up finding anyone who could do it in Northern BC? I've been trying to hold out on the Eibach coils, but am giving up hope they will ever actually release them.

My fiance reminded me that all of our money isn't for the Taco and convinced me to stick to 265/75r16 for the new tires :(

Now I'm working on wearing these out so I can get a lift for the next ones ;)
