Yep, couldn’t justify anything more aggressive. It’s a daily driver, so I’m trying to retain some mpg’s too. It was a close call between these and the discount tire Goodyears. I was on the Falken wagon but never pulled the trigger. I picked up a spare OR wheel from eBay and will do a 5 tire rotation. $1000.01 out the door. Damn pennies.

Next big mod will probably be 6112/5160. No clue when though.

    Been meaning to ask....

So I watched the guys hand torque my lugnuts. Impact wrench put them on, then they pick up the 2’ torque wrench and turn a little bit and click. Twice around on each tire. Very little rotation on each lugnut until the click. I’m kinda feeling like that means the nuts were already at spec or above when they put the hand tool to them.

Unless things have changed since I last checked all C load KO2s have a 2-ply sidewall. The D and E load are 3-ply.

Yeah they are probably over torqued. Properly torqued bolts or nuts should be done in multiple stages. You can’t just run through them once and call it good.

285/75r16’s on 16x8 et 0 after sitting over the weekend with 80psi in them I aired them down. Broke the beads and lubed them up again. Remounted all four and were able to get the weights manageable. Road tested up to 75mph and no vibrations.

How did the 10 ply affect your MPG? I have had three flats now in 10,100 miles on the Goodyear Wrangler Adventure Kevlar stock tires and have had enough. I always ran Cooper Discoverer AT3 in 10 ply on my '98 Chevy and never had any issues with flats or rock cuts. Someone here said the 10 ply are overkill for a Tacoma, but I am not buying for the towing and load rate but for the extra ply protection from our rocky forest roads.

Sweet! This is 100% stock with the 265/75R16 in standard load (116T).

SL are basically the same as the stock tire rating...like 4 ply rating where the LT is a 10 ply rating. I don't use the truck for anything that would require the need for a LT (towing/hauling/heavy off-roading/overlanding/etc.) This truck will be mostly a pavement prince & daily, but will see forest service roads and logging roads a couple times per month. I keep a full size spare in this same tire & size on the spare wheel in stock location, tire repair kit and Viair 400P Auto in the truck just in case, but I've never had a flat tire in my 18 years on the road. Knock on wood! I am sensitive to changes in ride quality and general driving characteristics so I resisted the urge to go LT. MPG was not really a factor, but this still gets 22 mpg HWY at 65 MPH. Another benefit of the SL tire is that they have more siping in the treads...good for wet weather pavement traction common in the PNW.

I've noticed that Tacos take their best photos from lower angles. Ha.

Thanks so much for getting back to me. I live in Canada, I am NEW to all this "tire talk". I am in the same situation- I do very little off roading (too damn busy with work) and I commute to work. I will have to see if we have "SL" available here in Canada. I find all of the rating shit confusing! I was trying to find to optimal tire for my situation...very similar to you. Thanks again brother

You are most welcome! I think you'd be really happy with these tires. Toyo Product Code 356180 for black side wall.

Load tables show 27 PSI will yield the same load capacity as your stock tire at 30 PSI, but that is too low in daily application. I'll likely settle on 31 front and 30 rear as my magic number.

Don't work too much! It kills productivity ;)

7 years and I will be RETIRED!!! I can't wait... Have you been following the discussion on this website about one of the sidewalls on the TOYO tires being more aggressive looking than the other? After viewing all of these pictures, you can notice a difference in some of the TOYO tires for sure... your thoughts on that?? Where are you from? Thanks again

Congtrats! That's just right around the corner.

Yes sir...I was an early poster here and had bought SL for my older rig to be a guinea pig for the Taco I didn't have yet. I'm also pretty "OCD" when it comes to this stuff lol.

    Regarding Sidewall Aggressiveness:
In 265/75R16 (SL and LT E) and 285/75R16 LT E, the sidewalls are "less beefy" or "thinner looking" or "not as pronounced" in appearance when compared to something like the LT285/70R17 C. That tire was made in the US and looks really sweet, where these other sizes mentioned are made in Japan. All Toyo AT3 LT tires have larger voids between the tread blocks to grip better while off road, in sand & mud, ETC. You can see this if you study the photos from Toyo's website where they are all lined up next to each other.

All Toyo AT3 tires have 2 sidewall "designs" and you can mount them either way you wish. 1 side has some extra lines in the sidewall pattern and the other side doesn't. I put the side with the extra lines facing OUT this time because on my previous truck I mounted them facing IN...I like both looks...very minor difference. Whatever your preference is...you can tell your tire installer which way you want them after taking a look for yourself.

    I live in Portland, OR.

I need new tires and I've been looking at these Toyos but they seem to be out of stock everywhere with no shipping date in the foreseeable future.
Been thinking about the Hankook ATF2 RF11's as an option. Original suspension and 16" wheels on the truck. Also debating a 2.75 lift and new wheels.
    Any thoughts?

I just ordered Toyo Open Country AT3s on Monday and they came in today. 2019 Tacoma Pro ordered the 265/75/16 Load Range E. Discount Tire. They said it depends on the size you need.
