Received my new toy in the mail today. I had a Dometic CFX3 75DZ, but I couldn't find or design a slide setup that would keep everything short enough to fit under my Diamondback cover. So I sold the Dometic and picked up this ARB Elements 63 quart. It's an inch and a half shorter than the Dometic, so I have about 2 full inches of clearance to work with. That allows for the use of many aftermarket slides, but I am designing my own that will be 48" deep, so I can pull the entire fridge out and keep things behind it, too.

This one is not dual zone like the Dometic, so I may end up with a really small (10 or 12 quart) secondary unit that I will keep in freezer mode. My wife really likes ice in her drinks at camp, and it's nice to keep popsicles or ice cream sandwiches for the kiddos. But I'm really pleased with the build quality and features of this unit. Shout out to @EvergreenOffroad ! If anyone is in the need of a fridge (Dometic OR ARB), hit him up for sure!

Finished my R&D (Rip off and Duplicate) transmission skid plate today. Couldn’t stomach the prices on line for this part, so took it on as a project.3A42BE32-5C7B-4C09-ACA5-9640190FD046.jpg5EB49023-EF46-49F3-8EB6-65CE6B4669BD.jpg 4D7D6CD8-5696-457A-9736-31B0E2AEAF15.jpg2871FF46-C6D3-4BAC-8780-B2E884F7E8DA.jpg

I’ve had it three years. I use it almost every day except the past year because of the pandemic I don’t drive anywhere. It is pretty decent, check out my build thread for a guide on rewiring the switch.

I have a diamond NMO dual band (2M/440) which has a lower wind profile than a firestik. I assume your running a cb so the pl-259 mount on the firestik might be a bit tight and the coax tough for 28 MHz to flex well, definitely need a low profile 90deg mount. ( I use a 19 inch mag mount for cb and it is almost as good as my FSB4 firestik was.) That I mounted bed rail off center to give decent reflection left and forward.

I think I’d go old school with the firestik. They are tough as nails, put it on a spring mount and just ignore the garage dragging sounds, or mount it lower as a cb may get a few miles but nothing like hams 50 no matter where the rf plane is. (Yes, I’m about to get flamed for saying it)

Got my Rough Country soft cover put on. Luckily, got mine put on before bad weather moved in earlier today.

I finally found time to install the OEM power tailgate lock. It was a moderately easy installation but still took me almost 3 hours due to taking my time and making sure that everything was neatly in place, nice and tight. Photo of my 2018 Tacoma Sport below.
