    Voltage across the battery terminals should be 12-13 when the car is off and 14-15 when it’s running. Cheap easy test.

    Yes and no. Technically the alternator is running the vehicle and charging the battery so in theory, it shouldn't affect anything unless the vehicle shuts off. That is, unless the alternator is also bad (not withstanding bad wiring or anything). Having a multimeter is kind of irrelevant in OP's case by the sounds of it since it only runs with the jump pack. I wouldn't doubt if one issue affected the other, though.
