Lighting information overload...

There is so much info on here about lighting that I can't see the forest for the trees. I bought some Sealight LED's on Amazon and they suck. Just looking for an improvement over stock and not the ugly yellow color. Would prefer a nice white and I'm willing to spend up to about $300 for a good product. When I read the technical breakdowns my head starts to spin. I just need someone to tell me what to buy lol

As linked by @tclavell above, if wanting LEDs Hikari Ultras or Morimoto 2stroke 3.0s are the only ones I'd recommend as improvements over stock. Most LEDs just cause significant increases in foreground light and losses in distance light, which can be deceiving. The 3.0s are a better design, with better focus and will likely last far longer than the Hikaris, but the Hikaris are slightly higher output.

 

Ok I think I will get the Morimotos. What about brights and fogs?

 

Stick with H9's for your highbeams. Its a small reflector, so focus is key, and all of the LED retrofit bulbs are wider than the halogen filanent, resulting in poorer focus.

If your fogs use H16's, there's really not much of an upgrade. You shouldn't run any sort of LED retrofit bulb in a fog lamp. There's some excellent aftermarket LED fogs on the market. Diode Dynamics SS3 pods are currently the top contender for performance/$-spent.

 

See @Toy_Runner response above. If you had to do LEDs in the high beam, I'd opt for the Hikari, but you are really not going to get much of a performance gain just a color change.

Diode Dynamics SS3 SAE assemblies are the way to go for the fogs. Selective yellow will perform best in poor weather. All the fogs are covered in this thread, note the SS3s linked at the top.
