It's been a long time! Condensed history -I owned a Gen1 SR5 which I beat the living sh*t out of for 13 years, Toyota replaced the frame and then my son bought it and in 2020 he sold it (still running fine) for somewhere north of 5K. That truck owed us NOTHING. I graduated to a RAM 2500 in 2016 and then to my current RAM 2500 6.4 in 2020. Why RAM? Well, Toyota put me in a RAM for 6 months when they had my Taco and I fell in love. I also needed something to tow my camper with.

Now it's 2021, my wife and I are building her 2021 Wrangler Rubicon and a custom off-road teardrop for the next phase of adventures and we are selling the 25' codo on wheels. There is really no need for me to drive around in a beast that gets 12MPG (on a good day) so after 11 months I'm putting my latest RAM on the market. Now I need to replace it, but with what? I should add, every one of my trucks has been a plow truck. The Taco had a 7' Cutris Poly and my RAM has a 9.6" Fish V. Whatever I get, will have a 7' 6" Boss HTX V plow added.

I love the Rubicon Wrangler, when I compare it to my 04 Taco I like the looks better, I like the ride better and I like the fit an finish better. That said, a 4 door is also going to cost me (at least) 10k more (new) than a Tacoma TRD Off-Road and when you consider dependability the Tacoma is still edging out the Wrangler.

My point? I'm going to start looking for a TRD Off-Roads and would be more than happy to hear any advice on options to stay away from, must have options, great incentives or unpublicized discounts, a recommended dealer in Southern Maine, etc. I guess my only hesitation at this point is the ride, my current RAM rides like a Cadillac when compared to how my old Taco rode, hopefully Toyota has improved the ride quality since Gen1

Thanks all, looking forward to being part of the community again!

Hah! OK.. that may be stretch but when I see the cabin of a Tacoma it feels like it's stuck in 2010's time loop.

Thanks! Yea, I should also have said the idea of depending on 2 Jeeps had me on the edge. I can't say anything bad about RAM but I never put 160k on one either ;) I'll be so conflicted.. a Rubicon in one bay and a Tacoma in the other :argue:

    • Zero incentives.
    • No discounts.
    • The ride will not be as comfortable as your RAM, but will be better than your first gen.
It's a tough time to be hunting for discounts on new Tacos; high demand, low inventory.

That's what I figured, it's the second best depreciating vehicle on the market so why discount it? You get what you pay for, pay now or pay later :spending:. Thanks for confirming!
