Just wondering if anyone has ever had the speedometer recalibrated after getting bigger tires. My current tire size is 265 60 r18 and I would like to go slightly bigger with a 265 65 r18,can any tire store recalibrate my speedometer or do I need to go to Toyota for that? Will this affect my warranty at all?

At 65mph your actual speed is 67.22 mph. Not sure if that's worth the troubles? Unsure about warranty but they would have to directly prove tire size contributed to whatever may have broke.

You have to install an aftermarket piece to re-calibrate.

Hyper tech is one brand, there may be others.

Most Tacomas are off factory. New tires alone may correct that. It did for me.

+1. Going up by just one size tends to make the speedometer more accurate. Recommend doing a speed test comparing GPS vs. Speedometer before you buy anything.

I didn't know that, that's interesting,I'll compare it to my Waze app and see if the readings are the same.

Here's another question,I kinda narrowed my tire search down to either the Nitto Terra grappler g2 or the Nitto ridge grappler, the ridge grappler is $125 more per tire,is it worth it to pay more for it? Is it really that much better then the Terra grappler g2? I would love to hear everyone's opinion on both. Pics if you have them, especially on limited wheels! Thanks everyone

Me too. My speedo was off from the factory, and putting on larger tires actually corrected it and made it exact.

Not to mean to thread jack, but anyone have experience with either of these two products, I just went from 31 to 33 on my 2nd gen which did not fix the speedometer actually made it like 2 mph slower which isn't a big deal, but I am planning on regearing to here in the near future and just would like to have the speedometer reading the right speed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought I read here on TW, at least with 3rd Gens, that going up 1 size corrected the speedo BUT then the odometer was incorrect. Meaning in stock form the speedo reads a couple mph fast but the odometer was correct.

Mine is a 2nd gen, and I upsized by one tire size from OEM. With the factory sized tires, my actual speed was 3mph less than what my speedo was reading. When I put on the larger tires, it was right on. During my commute to work, I typically passes 2 stationary speed monitoring stations where it shows your speed, and that's how I originally found out it was wrong, and how the larger tires corrected the problem.
